We're not really doing this - "How dare the media treat us poorly" thing, are we?  How bout we not be so absurdly bad every year, and then care about how the media treats us?

It was all orchestrated by Keith Law & Ken Rosenthal.

Who woulda thunk it?   Cedric has 24 homers and 25 steals with about 30 games to go.   It's going to be close.    Besides already having a great breakout season, that would be a great accomplishment.   I don't believe an Oriole has ever done it.

He has 24 homers in 128 games which is a shade under 1 per 5 games so if he continues his seasonal pace, he should just make it.   Go Cedric!!!!!

LOVE!!! I LOVE Cedric and thanks for the thread/recognition! HUGE fan! I watched him play so much at Bowie. Always cheering for him!

Also, like how it was mentioned if Mateo improved on his bunting in the offseason (similar to Mullins) might help him even more.

One thing that sets Mullins apart, his worth ethic. A great leader to have around a club.

And he was miserable in the field and at the bat early in the season.

Spot on. Plus just Google the other candidates. But I am sure it’s a big conspiracy co-headed by Keith Law to disrespect the great Oriole Empire.

A colleague of mine's son is moving down to FL so his son can do his senior year at IMG.  If you have the means and the talent, it's probably the best "high school" to use as a platform to show off your skills.  Kids from all over the country move to Bradenton, Fl to play all the various sports they offer.  We run into them in Basketball every year.  While our team is a perennial top 10 in the nation team, IMG is is a class above.  Same in all sports.  Not really a high school, it's a sports academy where talented kids go to learn how to become professionals at an early age.

    Great info, thank you.

I think Elias and Hyde should only be gotten rid of after the O's get new owners.  I'm still hoping that at some point MLB won't approve of the Angelos brothers ownership and force a sale.  Success will be extremely difficult under the financial constraints the O's seem to operate under.  I can't see a "better" GM candidate jumping on a chance to be GM of the O's.  IMO, the O's sort of got lucky to get someone like Elias.  Wonderboy GMs probably would rather go to a team w/ larger financial resources, IMO.  Prove me wrong based on the O's actions of the last couple of years.

They are going to sell to a local group, waiting for Peter to pass.

Well did anyone get your preference information to the O's Front Office as events were unfolding?

If not, I can't see how they could be held accountable for making what they thought was the best decision.

It wasn’t just me sweet nips, it was most scouting departments in baseball.

I agree you cannot fault the Lawlar pick based on an injury he suffered after being drafted, just like you can’t fault the Kjerstad pick based on him contracting myocarditis.   I hope the young man makes a full recovery from his injury and goes on to have a good MLB career.  Needless to say, I also hope Cowser goes on to become an excellent major leaguer along with others we signed with the money we saved

No doubt. Definitely, but I do question the love of corner outfielders on a team trying build a foundation, he’s going high success rate but not the approach I’d take.

Well if the Lawlar injury was known by teams leading up to the draft process, I don’t mind passing on him and I’m someone who really wanted him.

That’s the question. Are there indications for higher risk due to throwing motion? Or was it just bad luck.

Elias looks better after taking Cowser over Lawler. Lawler just had a labrum tear. That’s tough on a SS.

Really? That’s who they should have taken by far. Dude was a stud SS, even House (who Nats took, likely a 3B). How can you predict that? Say that, yet everyone believe Kerstad was nobody’s fault.

I still strongly believe Lawlar was the pick.

There's a girl catching for Texas in little league who blocks pitches better than severino.   Pick any catcher in the minors and bring them up. Doesn't have to be Adley. Severino must go.

I like Pedro but it really is bad and for a rebuilding club focused on fundamentals…..makes zero sense.

I'm not.  He really isn't that good.  Though it is pretty sad, for him, that he was optioned on a team that is awful with no real option at SS. Not a good sign for Richie.

I agree with that sadly but still want him to play and I am pulling for him!

Thanks for the nice comments.  Check is in the mail.

The O's have Mullins, Santander, Hays, McKenna, Neustrom and Manicini in the outfield and DH.   Sounds like there is a trade in there somewhere this off season.  Maybe its a real baseball trade of major league players for major league  players.

I don't know what the O's have with Mateo yet.  He could be a SS or a 2B but so far he looks like a guy that a building team will want to play everyday.

So the outfield. 1B, C and SS or 2B  are covered.   Elias has to come up with a 2B/SS and a 3B from FA or trade.

I think the O's need to add a SP to Means, Baumann, Tyler Wells, Grayson and Zimmermann in the rotation.

The pen needs a couple of veteran relievers.

So two infielders, a SP, and two relievers.   And Mancini is probably trade bait to get one of them.   I don't want any of the FAs on more than a one or two year contract because what is coming behind them in the minors.

Is it doable? Yes.   Will the O's do it?  I don't know. But it will be interesting to watch.  I think it could be a .500 team if done right.

You say the O's are not close to stop tanking.  I say don't waste the Adley and Grayson years.  Do what is required to improve the team.

I forgot CF in Mullins just because I wonder if he will be traded but he you can build around! Agreed!

I hope you are right Sir. Thanks for responding!

Tampa and the A's have found  formulas that allows them to compete with the big money teams.  The owners and the union should make sure nothing impedes their progress.  Instead they should bolster their methods anyway they can.

The O's should be at the end of their tanking.  With top prospects arriving and a low payroll the O's can supplement their roster with sensible spending.   The New CBA should also support them if both the union and owners want 30 teams to compete.

As far as stopping tanking, if MLB wants to take money from the rich teams to support the poorer teams that would be helpful.  And if they want to designate that the money they  give them must be used for player salaries that seems fine as well.

First off, thanks for all you contribute on here. I sincerely love your posts and the thought/research that go into each post. You are awesome.

What makes you think we are at the end of our tanking? I respectfully disagree. We have a franchise catcher, but no SS or infield, SP is thin at best, no CF (plenty of corner OFers). Elias passing on Lawlar was very telling IMO. Until the team is sold, there will be no greenlight to compete and the moves he makes backs that up. I would anticipate a trade of Mancini or Means and a comment in the offseason similar to Jose Iglesias "We just aren't as far along in the rebuild as we had hoped after careful evaluation, blah blah blah".

Could I be wrong? Absolutely. But I don't think we are close at all to competing in the AL East. Not even remotely close.
