O's Could have legit Prospects and Nearly All Positions at AAA

I don't know if that has been the case ever before. Maybe pre-free agency when teams could just stockpile players. I don't think a roster has been released but here is my guess off the top of my head for a starting 8. Feel free to add your own.

C - Wynns (only non-prospect position until/if AR gets there)

1B - Nevin

2B - Jones

3B - Bannon

SS - Martin (technically not a prospect but still is by default)

LF - ?

CF - McKenna

RF - Diaz

SP - Baumann, Lowther, Zimmerman, Wells, ?

RP - Could have a few prospects here too.

It is a talented group, for sure. Ciuffo will get a lot of run at C, and Shaw might get a lot of time in LF and 1B. Nevin might do the same, and I’d like to see him get some time at 3B.

I think they plan to use Shaw a lot in LF with Nevin at 1B most of the time. Nevin is the priority play and I agree with you that he might see some time in LF as well.

Yeah, I am intrigued by both. I agree that Nevin is the priority. Shaw looks to be in better shape (leaner) than he did with SF. Nevin looks to be a little more muscular than last year as well. I think the staff will continue to impress on both of them that developing their athleticism/strength is huge for them to play in MLB. I would like to see Nevin play 3B, but in limited looks for me his arm looks like it might be short for that in an everyday role. They both have a ways to go for various reasons. Shaw needs a ton of work to shorten that swing and improve his pitch recognition.

Nevin gave an interview a week or two ago and mentioned that Elias told him he needed to play multiple positions 1B/3B/COF and they would be moving him around a lot.

I hope Zimmermann isn’t at AAA

He seems like a lock to be on the team, and really should be in the rotation. Jorge Lopez has really pitched well for the most part. We'll see what Felix' elbow does, but both of those guys have to be in consideration for a starter role.

I agree, but a lot of people have suggested that Leblanc would get the choice over Zimmerman, and Zimmerman would start in AAA. As I mentioned it to you, I’ve changed my mind about Harvey, and I think it plays should be made for him, but I also want to keep Leblanc and Zimmerman both.

Have to choose between the two, I guess I would understand playing the service time game with Zimmerman, but dammit I want some of our pitchers to be good ones, And because Leblanc is already on a minor league contract, it would be easy to send him down with the promise that he’s first man up in the event of injury or incompetence.

No need to game Zimm's service time really. He turned 26 last month. His time is now. We disagree on LeBlanc, and I have not seen anyone, as far as journalists or experts, projecting him to stick once they signed Harvey. However, that could change, depending on Felix' elbow. Elias may claim a guy who gets cut, or sign a FA who opts out. LeBlanc, for me, is a fall back, but I know you like what he has done so far in 2021.

Oh I think you misunderstood me, I don’t want to choose LeBlanc over Zimmerman, and I agree with you that Harvey is better. I would rather keep Zimmerman, and I think service time games are generally silly, especially with a guy it was already 26. We got him till he’s 32. No need for manipulation.

I was trying to understand the logic of those who prefer LeBlanc. I think it is tenuous logic, but that’s all I could come up with.
