O's are the 3rd wildcard team now.  Hard to believe.  Anyone bet the O's would make the playoffs in the spring?  You're about to make some money.

And they are two games out of the first wild-card, which used to be the wild-card, straight into the divisional, period.

What impresses the most about this team is its attitude. Other clubhouses would have checked out after the FO traded away their closer and veteran leader in the middle of a pennant race. But they are unfazed.

In fact, they're doing even better. It's almost as if the pre-trade deadline speculation had been a significant distraction and they're glad it's passed (though not that Mancini and Lopez are gone). This team's players pick each other up resolutely. Last night, the bottom four of the lineup went 12 for 17 and a walk with 6 RBIs, 6 runs scored, and left only 2 runners on base, albeit one inning of that offense was against a mop-up position player. Its spirit is so strong that it has absorbed the new post-deadline players without losing a beat: Vavra, Head, and Phillips have all fit right in. Three games into the tougher competition stretch, we're 3-0.
