  1. On MASN: “I am working on it,” Rubenstein said. “I just think it’s premature to say what the resolution will be but my goal is to take this away from the lawyers and give it back to the business people to resolve. So, I’m hopeful and I have reason to believe that I can get this done, but I’m not a miracle worker. “It’s been going on for a long time but I think the commissioner of baseball would like to get this resolved. I think all the owners would like to get this resolved, and I would like to get it resolved. But I don’t have an easy answer yet. If it was easy, it would have been resolved of course, but I think it’s something I am really focused on and I think I have reason to believe that we can get something done.” On Elias and Hyde: " Though he didn’t commit to a hard increase in spending or signing any immediate extensions of the team’s young stars, Rubenstein didn’t rule either scenario out. He later expressed that he hopes Elias will be a part of the organization “for a long time.” “I’m going to rely on the best general manager in baseball and see what he recommends and I will follow his recommendations,” Rubsenstein said." Misc: "Rubenstein plans to attend the Orioles’ opening day game against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday with plans for Ripken to throw out the first pitch. The Orioles also plan to hold a moment of silence for the victims of the Tuesday morning Francis Scott Key bridge collapse. Rubenstein spoke highly of Ripken, who joined his ownership group as a minority partner and “wants to get more involved” with the team after maintaining a distance from the team with which the Hall of Famer spent his entire 21-year career. Ripken will take on a community engagement role with hopes of drumming up more support as the Orioles take aim at making a deep playoff run this season."
  2. It has to be within 2 weeks of opening day (172 days on active roster). Now there's still a chance, but the likelihood is they're sending him down to get that extra year, in which case we wouldn't be eligible for the pick, but Holliday could still potentially win ROY, in which case he would accrue a full year of service still, wasting sending him down. AKA, exactly what happened with Adley (though his delay was mostly injury related).
  3. From BBref: 2021: 3B - 36 games, SS - 69 games 2022: 2b - 40 games, SS - 54 games, 3b - 37 games 2023: 2b - 7 games, SS - 33 games, 3b - 20 games 2023 Majors (After call up): 2b - 50 games, 3b - 29 games
  4. Honestly I think back at the Guardian's announcements for their updates for Progressive field. Same architects as Camden Yards, and opened soon after. They have some pretty cool ideas that seem to sound similar to the requests/plans for OPACY. There's a good video on MLB showing a lot of these updates: https://www.mlb.com/guardians/ballpark/renovations
  5. The lease specifies that the bonds would be issued no later than July 1, 2025, so the team could develop plans (though given the requests in Exhibit 1, I wouldn't be surprised if that has already started), and potentially gain approval during this upcoming season, with work beginning after the season ends, in November (if we're lucky). Now will the team be that proactive? I hope so, but possibly not, but it appears they certainly can start as soon as next season ends for major construction projects. I wouldn't be surprised if they have a similar timeline as the ravens and have a 2-3 season staggered plan, starting next offseason.
  6. I'm not sure if borrowing the money for the bonds necessarily affects disbursement of the 600 million for the upgrades. The Ravens presumably would have a similar timeline from signing their lease to money to upgrades, and we're only 6 months or so out with the first phase of upgrades starting after the season for next fall. I'd presume a similar timeline, and wouldn't be surprised if "easier" upgrades like the sound system/televisions, as being feasible for the beginning of the 2024 season (assuming there's some sense of urgency by the team to get that ball rolling...)
  7. Here's the actual Schedule from the lease, with proposed upgrades from the team and MSA:
  8. I remember Elias saying that very recently, possibly at the Winter Meetings in an interview, that the facility was going to be open either by the end of the year or in the next month or so (something like that).
  9. Man, I remember begin super hopeful for John Maines to blow up...
  10. **These picks are subject to change, and potentially improve, after CBT penalties are handed out to the Yankees, Padres and Mets. Based on my understanding of these penalties, each of those teams could move down 10 spots (dependent on them NOT getting a top 6 pick in the lottery, so the O's #24 pick could potentially move up to #21 at the highest.
  11. You are correct. I read this I think at Fangraphs, being below the luxury threshold moves the qualifying pick from after the 4th round to after the Comp B round, 60-70 picks higher.
  12. I feel like this is a very under considered point. I agree with the general idea of the criticism, but without the context of what players are being discussed/demanded, it's hard to criticize making a bigger move just for the sake of making a big move, prospects given away be damned. If every controlled starter conversation started with Holliday, then the conversation should end there for now.
  13. Googles "Max Scherzer on Pitching Days"
  14. I was thinking same as I was watching the game, "i'm really curious to see what the umpire scorecard says tomorrow." It confirms my suspicions that as usual, we get the Boston/New York favored zone.
  15. New CBA definitely hasn't been released in full yet, so i'm not sure what LTO is reading.
  16. The writeups are really nice. Makes you super excited (even more than current exuberance) for the future.
  17. I feel like I have some vague memory of reading or discussing here how there was an issue with Florida's program and hitting, or some problem with the team? I could have also just manifested that somehow and mixed it up with something else i've read... (this was specifically discussing Fabian's hitting at Florida though, I wish I could recall...)
  18. I’ve been looking online weekly since march for the damn thing. I figure the same, still working on finishing touches.
  19. Using that limitation, 2 starters, high ops hitter, reliever, and prospects to fill, what moves would you make/prefer?
  20. JD Martinez, and any below average SP over 35, i'd include Mancini on that list too.
  21. I've been checking weekly since the spring for the CBA documentation to be released with no success. I'm guessing with the complexity it takes months to finish for publication. (unless I keep just missing it somewhere)
  22. I was half jokingly/half seriously pondering something like this the last few days... Adding something like Judge (8/300 w/ opt out?) and Verlander (2/80 w/ vesting 3rd yr option). Combined with upcoming prospects and trades (Santander for Pitching) and having something like: Catcher: Adley 1B: Mountcastle/Westburg 2B: Westburg/Vavra/Urias SS: Ortiz/Mateo/Henderson 3B: Henderson/Urias LF: Stowers CF: Mullins RF: Judge DH: Urias/Judge/Whoever isn't playing/bench Bench: Urias/Mateo/Hays/Backup C SP: Verlander SP: GROD SP: Kremer SP: Means SP4/5: Bradish/Lyles/Voth BP: Felix and the boys, etc. Not super well thought out, probably not realistic, but boy would that be fun to watch...
