  1. I stopped my subscription when it was sold to the NYT. I found that the beat guys (MASN, TA, and MLB.com) basically wrote the same articles with the same quotes. Definitely, not worth paying for.
  2. I went last year for the first time since 1982. It was very different than it was back then. I was struck by the number of young people and women at the stadium. Two friends and I went on a 9 city MLB trip last August and Wrigley had the most young adults of any stadium by far.
  3. Newman just said that Hays tags up and scores… on a single. Urg!
  4. I don't care who you are... if you've played 10 years in the bigs, then you are in the top .01% of humans who have ever played this game.
  5. I think you are correct. It seems like managers are making less and less decisions. This seems like man org thing to me. Cash pretty much admitted it when he got blasted for taking Snell out of the WS. Hyde seems more like a guy following the direction of the GM than a guy managing his own games.
  6. I am ready to move on from Mateo. I would like to see McKenna replaced as well. Replace those two with Westburg and Cowser (when he's healthy) and get them 4-5 starts a week and see what happens. Regarding the OP, there is no dilemma. As others have pointed out, Stowers was never that highly rated and based on how he has been used, the Orioles agree. He may be a fringe starter on a bad team but that has always been his projection. I don't think that MLB clubs are that influenced by SSS or they aren't in those jobs for long.
  7. Guys don't come back from TJ and dominate right away. I think Means will be a mid-4's ERA guy the remainder of 2023 and Elias knows that too. I can't see him relying on Means as much more that a solid starter, certainly not a difference maker.
  8. So, I have let it slip a few times on the Ravens page that I am a Steelers fan. I was going to troll and suggest "Renegade" but I do so only in jest.
  9. To be clear. I wasn't suggesting that song. Someone had mentioned it earlier in the thread as being just as random as "Country Boy" and that's why I said that it was at least about Maryland.
  10. I voted to keep it only because it is a "thing" now. But, "Take Me Home Country Roads" was at least written about Maryland. Perhaps surprisingly, the inspiration for “Take Me Home, Country Roads” occurred in the state of Maryland. The “country road” was Clopper Road in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The song was originated by Bill Danoff and Mary Catherine “Taffy” Nivert. Taffy was his wife at the time.Sep 18, 2016
  11. While starting pitcher is the most glaring need. I am not sold on Hays being solid for the entire year. I think we could upgrade at a few positions. First Base, Second Base and Left Field could all be upgraded depending on the asking price. I don't think it would be wise to bring up too many more prospects who almost always struggle. I am a big Westburg fan and wanted him to take over 2nd from the start but, I am willing to wait. I am not as worried about guys being backed up in AAA. The system has been so bad for so long that we have forgotten what it looks like when you have such depth. I think of the Dodgers and how they have had guys stock piled in AAA for several years now who have had to wait their turn. Westburg and Cowser aren't even on the 40 man yet. In fact, none of our top 30 position prospects still in the minors are even on the 40 man. Even Ortiz who is currently up has two options remaining after this year. I know some guys are getting close to prime but, there is not a need to trade them or lose them yet.
  12. Maybe, I never really thought of Mussina as a true ACE. Maybe it was because he was on a lot of bad teams. For me, it's not even close. I would still take peak Palmer over Peak Mussina.
  13. For pitchers, Palmer over Mussina and it is not even close. Can't go wrong with Frank Robinson either. As a fan, Boog Powell was my favorite as a young kid. 1970 MVP Boog would be a great upgrade too.
  14. It has been said that he wants to stay on the west coast which is why I excluded a;; east coast teams including the NYY and NYM. But maybe there is enough money to persuade him.
  15. Thanks for the context. I noticed the speckled details on the jersey Hays was wearing. There was clearly a lot of thought put into it and they were going for the edgy theme but I still think Charm City would have been better.
  16. They could but I don't think they would. That's an awful lot of money and they seemed to be staying away from the top tier FAs. Perhaps they are doing that so the CAN make a run at Ohtani. What do I know? I am just guessing anyway.
  17. Plus, Ohtani is staying out west. It will be the Dodgers or the Angels with SF as a dark horse. I can't see anyone else signing him.
  18. Overall, I like it. As others have said, they should have put Charm City on the front.
  19. He was bad but fairly consistent. O's definitely benefited in some situations.
  20. Thanks Frobby. I hope you know the impact you have on this board and the folks like me who rely on your insight and detail oriented posting.
  21. Thanks for staying on top of this Frobby. I have a strange question. Do you know under the terms of the MASN deal who actually owns the TV rights to the Nats. For instance, could MASN sell or outsource the broadcast rights to another RSN?
  22. Dead Horse here!! I've been on the Mountcastle goes brain deed on throws in the dirt since last year. He will use good mechanics until he doesn't. No other explanation than he just goes to sleep on plays. Maybe he needs some of CD's Adderall? (I hope I didn't just break a OH rule).
  23. Anyone else think it is weird that Watkins didn't pitch? With the BP do overused, I was surprised. I guess they were waiting to see if Bradish could make his next start but still seems like a wasted chance to get a fresh arm up.
