  1. He is not a fool until the best offer is rescinded. January 9th is not some kind of deadline for anything. He is being patient and trying to get what he thinks is the best deal. We don't know what the O's or any other team has offered except for "reports and sources" which may or may not be accurate. BTW, I don't even like Cease that much. He could revert back to his near Cy Young year or he could continue to slide. It is probably even money at this point at best. If they are going to expend that much prospect capital and years of control then I'd like someone who doesn't need to reclaim his best year. He has been a 3-5 guy than he's been a 1-3 guy.
  2. I can’t argue that but there is a reason so many scouting/ranking folks are sky high on him. I wouldn’t discard him as being redundant at this point.
  3. Auto-correct must have sniped me.

  6. This whole thing sounds like the hangout was when we thought Bedard was going to the Dodgers. It was Keyshaw or nothing.
  7. This guy clearly doesn’t know prospects. He’s just reading the Pipeline list and spouting off names. He’s says Bassillo is our #5 prospect. While this is technically true, it’s only because they haven’t posted their updated list. It’s likely he will be our #2 prospect and maybe a top 10 overall.
  8. I was disappointed that he experienced the elbow pain and was not able to pitch in the ALDS but by all reports, it was minor and he would have been on the ALCS roster had they made it. He will have a full and normal offseason to prepare. I am going with the fact that a high percentage of guys return to form after TJ. I think there it is a good bet that he performs well. It is not 100% of course but I don't think it is "silly" to count on him which is the comment I was responding to.
  9. I think he will have a good year. I am counting on him for about 140 - 150 IP
  10. This was me also. I was certain that there would be regression. Glad I was wrong.
  11. If John Means returns to being pre-TJ John Means then I have no problem with him starting a GM3 if they get there.
  12. Loved the highlight video. My first thought was he was thin especially his upper body. Good to hear that he is focusing on getting stronger. Maybe he adds a few ticks to the velo.
  13. Nothing wrong with checking in on him. Seems like his issues were related to alcoholism. Every addict deserves the chance to get and stay clean.
  14. Roch, on top to things as usual. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
  15. I don’t have a source. It was from back in the summer/fall when the MOU was announced. It may have been something in the banner. I probably shouldn’t have quoted but maybe attributed to him.
  16. JA has been quoted by sources as to not negotiating with the last administration because he didn't want to give Hogan the PR of renewing the lease.
  17. Are you saying tht JA can use the $600m to develop the additional sites he is getting and not as improvements to OPACY itself?
  18. That is exactly what I thought when I read the article.
  19. I agree with keeping the DH spot open but can’t agree with the general statement about having to play the rookies. There’s nothing wrong with stockpiling them in Norfolk until there is an injury or performance issue that brings them up. Few have spent a full year in Norfolk and at least one of them doesn’t even have to be added to the 40 man until after this year. That’s what teams with both good MLB teams and strong farm systems do. It’s just been 50 years since the O’s had both we fans don’t know how to process it.
  20. Well, I see it differently. I'm not convinced it is a great trade. I am assuming that they are confident that he will sign longterm with them because that's a lot to give away for one year. Yes, the NYY can buy whatever they want and Yes, Soto has great stats but he certainly was not a difference maker in SD. I believe that Cashman is panicked and is trying to save his job. All those things can be true. The yankees have been an average team (most years) for a long time now. No team can trade multiple assets for single assets consistently and not get old and unatheltic like they have been for the last few years.
  21. We don’t know what they gave up and they’ve already given up a ton of pitching. Yes, they can resign him but who knows if he wants to be there long term. It’s a panic move pure and simple. He’s trying to save his job.
  22. My hope is that the another SP is slotted in the top 3 which pushes them to the pen. One may be part of a trade That SP so I can see that happening too.
  23. Cashman’s normal knee jerk reaction. Trading away the future for very short term gain.
