  1. The obvious answer is they took guys who were less than to save money. Now that's malpractice... and not necessarily my perspective, but I'm pretty sure that's the contention. For me it all boils down to Cowser and whether or not you believe Elias. When you start things off at #5 with a guy most of the talking heads had outside of their top 10 and then you pay him $1MM underslot, there are justifiable questions. Especially when you look at the remainder of their picks. Not a whole lot of bonus baby opportunities.
  2. It's probably too offensive for the general populous these days.
  3. Also very much like the guy in Hallas' previous post. Weiters, Wieters, Willems, Williams. Whatever.
  4. Definitely weird. I have very little idea about most of the draftees so reacting to it seems disingenuous to me. I will say I've never seen any organization draft so many guys with no leverage. Given the history of this organization, it's hard not to wonder why that is.
  5. My wife was concerned about me for a minute or two. In fact, I may have laughed so hard that I SHARTED.
  6. I spit my coffee onto the table, literally. Poor kid.
  7. Yeah I know. I'm just saying... they can't just do WHATEVER they want and skate. Sometimes there's video!!!
  8. Ray Rice disagrees. Those two got married after the fact.
  9. I think I'm just fine with Henry Davis if it plays out this way.
  10. Aw come on.. everyone loves disrespecting ownership. It's a lot more fun taking shots at them than saying, "What an impressive group of people!!!!!"
  11. Honesty is not something I expect from owners of professional sports teams.
  12. I assume his assertion is because Mancini is about to get expensive... but he has been a pretty productive force offensively (last week or so notwithstanding.) It's really a shame Elias didn't deal Santander this offseason.
  13. What's pathetic is that there has to even BE an organization called Advocates for Minor Leaguers. This IS Twitter and it's hearsay... are we sure this is legit?
  14. I've exhausted this argument over the years but I firmly believe that trading Machado and Britton after the Encarnacion walkoff was the best path forward for an organization that had received clear signals Machado was definitely gone. It would have been terrible PR, yes... but they could have turned the minor league talent situation around quickly.
  15. He might as well come out and say, "Hergendoofin. Meesk neft klugge nachessti pek."
  16. I agree w/ this. What's the benefit to the organization?
  17. Holy crap that is unbelievable!!! Still, it's really heartwarming to see so many young guys off to a fast start. It's tough for me to remember the last time I had so much fun pulling up the MILB boxscores for the organization (sans Norfolk.) I guess when Wieters was killing it? Maybe Bundy's ludicrous Delmarva run?
  18. The wife & I went to dinner in Frederick on Saturday night and we were in a relatively crowded restaurant and nobody was wearing them in there... so, I'm not sure why they would want to dig their heels in enforcing masks in an open air outdoor setting. Who knows anymore. If they were required, we would have still gone and worn them. I feel like something major changed over the weekend - the bartenders said that was as busy as they had been in a year.
  19. Agree 100% and unless I start moving up tee boxes (not QUITE @ AARP level yet), I don't expect to return to the glory of my mid-30's hahaha... I still have my "keeper" scorecards signed by my playing partner. AH THE GLORY DAYS, SCOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
