  1. Hahahaha It’s way past my bedtime. I’m just trying to train myself not to sleep because soon sleep won’t happen anyway. Goodnight sweet prince.
  2. The NFL forces players to do all kinds of stupid crap. If you wear the wrong color socks you get fined. The NFL sucks. It has for a long time. Way before anyone took a knee.
  3. Dude when you get older... it’s hard to ignore it. It sucks, it’s like bad adult soap operas or something. I don’t want to be the get off my lawn guy, but I need baseball to get off my lawn at this moment.
  4. Being patriotic is political? I guess if you hate the country it is... I dunno. I’m just saying... they refer to themselves as a political movement. When you click “donate” note where it takes you. It is overtly political. Let’s set all of that aside for a second ... honestly I don’t really begrudge anyone for their politics. That is a deeply personal thing. Which is exactly why it needs to not slither it’s way into professional sports.
  5. https://blacklivesmatter.com/what-we-believe/ Enraged by the death of Trayvon Martin and the subsequent acquittal of his killer, George Zimmerman, and inspired by the 31-day takeover of the Florida State Capitol by POWER U and the Dream Defenders, we took to the streets. A year later, we set out together on the Black Lives Matter Freedom Ride to Ferguson, in search of justice for Mike Brown and all of those who have been torn apart by state-sanctioned violence and anti-Black racism. Forever changed, we returned home and began building the infrastructure for the Black Lives Matter Global Network, which, even in its infancy, has become a political home for many.
  6. Regarding OH, I agree and I hope for lots of peeps sake, the website persists. But I totally understand Tony’s apprehension. This is in your face politics from sports, and that is a stain. It would be the same thing regardless which way it leaned. Here’s my thing.... and believe this. My voice matters too. Just because someone doesn’t support #BLM doesn’t mean they don’t believe that black lives matter. #BLM is a political party. MLB is openly politicizing the sport. That is an atrocity.
  7. It has been very real, my friends. Obviously some great people on here and I wish you all well. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have met a lot of you. I don’t pretend to think that baseball is gonna miss me at all, but the politicization of one of my first loves is enough for me to turn my back for good. I’ve got a 2 year old boy and we are expecting another on Monday. I’m hopeful that they will play the game as Daddy did and grow to love it as well. Hopefully by then the world will have unplugged its head from its ass. Thank you Tony for providing a fantastic place to discuss, commiserate, and here and there, celebrate. Thank you Weams for being you. Thanks Drungo, Frobby, Paul, Sports Guy, Moose (youR Mom’s a pillow biter), Agent Orange, Bobmc, Scott, Bigbird, cindyluvsbrady and all of the other old timers for all of the laughs and semi reasonable trade proposals. And most of all thank you Mark Teixeira for going to that Ravens game back in the day. Enjoy the CBA pissing match!!!!
  8. Lost my sister to FAP (polyposis) about 8 years ago. Colon cancer and there were symptoms but she never dreamed it would have been that. She was 30. They told us she was 1 in about 700,000. I wish Trey the best. He’s young, strong and resilient.
  9. I recall that home run being an absolute mammoth shot.
  10. That was the first of a few. One of them was just me trying to throw the remote into the sofa with force and shooting a little high. It actually smacked against the side of a granite countertop and broke in half... that one was a Comcast remote too. Expensive. I've probably broken 4-5 of them over the years. None for quite a while though. When Jimenez gave up the walk off in 2016 I just shrugged and turned off the TV.
  11. I was in the guest room at my old townhouse watching that game. That moment caused me to launch the remote control into the wall, shattering it into 13 pieces.
  12. I love the fire. Good for that kid... hope he's here for a long time. Very grateful he didn't break a rib pounding his chest, though.
  13. Ditto me. Hitting has become less of an art. Everyone's a one trick pony.
  14. I mean that is "David Hess" down the middle of the plate. It's amazing how frequently our pitchers split the plate almost precisely in half.
  15. The Orioles are really, really good at combining mental & physical mistakes. It's uncanny.
  16. About that long. Couldn't even get one out before the lead vanishes.
  17. No mention of the splitter previously lauded by Luke.
  18. PS Adley Rutschman is OPS’ing .500 at Aberdeen. BOOM!!! I actually watched Beverly Hills 90210 at my wife’s behest so I missed all the fun. I think in retrospect I would rather have watched the Orioles get physically pummeled about the face and neck.
  19. It is what it is. You would think that there would be a little bit of variance in the consistency of Orioles pitchers giving up home runs, however. It is truly amazing how many home runs David Hess allows. He has given up 27 home runs in 74 innings. That is unbelievable!
