  1. They are the problem during this stretch drive. They are horribly underperforming while the rest of the lineup is showing up.
  2. He isn’t ready yet, but the OBP sure would look good on this club.
  3. How do you think they have been winning in July and August?
  4. They have underperformed on the season badly. Hays is hurt but he always seems to be hurt. Not sure what is up with Mountcastle
  5. This team needs them to hit like middle of the order bats. They haven’t for months except Mountcastle against the Blue Jays. Hays in July and August - 566, 467 OPS Mountcastle in July and August - 541, 661 OPS Kinda interesting that the best argument for calling up Henderson et al might be Hays and Mountcastle’s struggles.
  6. Actually they kind of do in Lyles, though he isn’t the level performer of a Sutcliffe. Please don’t act like mentorship is important in every other profession, but is of no value in baseball
  7. This team needs a staff leader. They need a Sutcliffe type. I haven’t heard anything about either Clevinger or Manea re these traits, though I do know Clevinger broke curfew and partied while with the Padres and is a Bauer friend and acolyte.
  8. Agreed. That homer would have gutted him in the past
  9. We have gone from having no pitching to actually having a nice group of guys between the minors and majors for next year.
  10. That’s fair and probably would be necessary if you want to try a similar strategy with Henderson etc. You at least have to make an attempt with the guy that is the heartbeat of the team. On the Braves, I would note that the Nationals were a well run team that also couldn’t get early extensions with guys.
  11. I will go on record as saying I wouldn’t make such an offer to 24 year old catcher, Adley.
  12. Astros surely tried this and couldn’t lock guys up. We know the Rays have done similar and a couple of times had success, but nothing like this. There are lots of organizations as good as the Braves that can’t seem to get a bunch of extensions like this.
  13. Beavers in front of Stowers. Wow.
  14. Love Vavra but don’t think he turns the double play in the 3rd or the ground out to end the 7th. Still need him in the lineup though
  15. next prospect Westburg and not Hall. interesting.

    Coby Mayo 2022

He is the size of Troy Glaus who played a perfectly good third. But it makes sense to give him some outfield run. The Orioles are loaded with position players. Versatility will be of value potentially in the majors or in the trade market. Mayo seems like a nice trade chip.
  17. Who do they have on the farm that potentially could be dominant out of the bullpen in a playoff run?
  18. Did you see jaw-dropping, dominant stuff? Lots of guys strike out 6 in almost 4 innings nowadays. Eventually he has a chance to be good, but he is a long way from that now and the raw stuff just wasn’t that amazing.
  19. Hall had only two swing and misses on his fastball. Let me reiterate this team doesn’t hit well. He has a long way to go
  20. We are in a playoff race. This is not the time to learn.
  21. Don’t get me wrong. I think he has a bright future. I just don’t think he is better than what they have at the moment. There will come a time where he will be. And let’s not forget this Rays team isn’t exactly an offensive juggernaut. They have a ton of injuries.
  22. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?date=8/13/2022&gamePk=661865&chartType=zone&legendType=pitchName&playerType=pitcher&inning=&count=&pitchHand=&batSide=&descFilter=&ptFilter=&resultFilter=&hf=pitch3d#661865 He misses just below belt high in the zone far too much. Few of his pitches are well located.
