  1. Adley came out of the womb ready to catch all the games, every season.
  2. Imagine the WAR he’ll put up when he plays in all 162. He’s 25, his knees are fine. I understand if he’ll have to DH every so often but really he should be able to play in all 162 and not think twice about it.
  3. Peter hired GMs, his mistakes were to hire bad ones that weren't at the vanguard of the industry. He intereferred, he didn't allow scouting and signing talent out of South America and he basically sucked at everything. So, yeah, credit to John to get someone in who has an eye towards building a franchise the right way, I agree. That said, every year is Elias's biggest test so far. 2024 will be his biggest test no matter the outcome of this year.
  4. Nice, that's a really good breakdown. I hope he can hit a little, too. I've said before that I'm okay with Mateo starting the year at SS but I hope Ortiz forces the issue after a couple months.
  5. So while we're here, you think he's the 2nd best defensive SS we've had come through the system since Machado? Granted, that's not all that long ago and it's not like we've been churning out SS prospects left and right until recently so it's not like I can think of someone else who could lay claim to being a great defender at SS that we've had come through the ranks other than Mateo (who really wasn't developed by us). I've read your scouting briefs on him but I guess I'm looking for a little more. You think Ortiz is THAT legit with the glove? 60, 65? Higher?
  6. It was a thinly veiled shot at wildcard. But he's preoccupied with "Mr. Everywhere."
  7. Frazier’s number is 12. Last worn by… ……….Rougned Odor last year. Hopefully whatever Chris Davis stank was left on 19 has been disinfected from 19 for Irwin.
  8. So Ortiz is a defensive wizard, eh? Wonder who's gonna take that quote and run with it.
  9. Absolutely. I'm not a big believer in Stowers but I'd like to see him get at bats over someone like Profar. And Cowser, too, obviously. All I'm saying is that I think Profar has been able to hang around for so long because he's still kind of a name.
  10. Probably not and that's a good thing. In years past it would seem that there would be a few spots wide open where you could see a NRI make it, just more evidence of a thin roster to begin with. I don't see that this year unless there are injuries.
  11. He's also poor on a number of other levels, it appears.
  12. At the All Star Break he was .270/.325/.454 for a .779. I'm not sure if that made him our most valuable player but he was probably in the running. His struggles in the 2nd half unfortunately highlighted the type of player he is, which is a free swinger who had a K/BB rate of almost a 3:1. It's one thing to be a hacker at the plate, there have been a lot of successful players with that approach... it's another thing to watch a guy swing from his heels and look like the Tazmanian Devil for two months and just look more and more helpless. I do believe Hays will be expendable if Cowser asserts himself in the first half of 2023, but then again I don't see how Hays really fits in here for the long term in general. If that puts him on my "naughty list," well then so be it. But watching Hays and Mountcastle flailing away at sliders for the entire second half last year was insufferable, especially when they were back to back in a lineup. That said, I'd take Hays of Profar any day of the week but that's not a ringing endorsement. IMO, Profar is only of interest because he's versatile in the field and was once a highly touted prospect.
  13. Odor was a good start. Frazier is a strong hint that he’s trolling us. Profar would be like
  14. I’d be irate if we signed Profar at this point. Then I’d start laughing cause I’d just figure that Elias is trolling us at that point. Frazier and Profar in the same offseason? Hilarious, Elias. Hilarious.
  15. If it were left up to me, there'd be no Frazier on the team this year and it'd be up to Westburg/Ortiz to battle it out in ST to take the job. As it stands, I think Westburg gets anywhere from 25% to, hopefully, 50% playing time at 2nd base this year. But that 8 million means that Frazier will have every opportunity to fail this season.
