  1. MLB: We want to promote our game as far and as wide as we possibly can. We really want to draw in as many viewers as we possibly can. Also MLB: We're going to broadcast our games on like 437 different streaming platforms in order to piss off as many people as we possibly can.
  2. I thought this was a really good trade at the time and it has the potential to be a fantastic one. Lopez didn't do as well in the 2nd half and we got some guys who might pan out. Povich is definitely a guy to watch this season.
  3. No, I'm just ribbing SG as he likes to remind everyone both overtly and passive aggressively that Lawlar should have been the pick. I agree with him but I'm also fine with Cowser. I'm encouraged by the way Cowser has adjusted each step of the way in his minor league career and I hope that he can iron out whatever issue he has against lefties.
  4. Thank goodness there's some good news in regards to Frazier, then.
  5. You want an autograph? You're getting an autograph.
  6. Well, Froberto Duran, I'm sorry I've not been able to chronicle all your posts on Frazier. I'll do better from here on out. Yes, he's not a strategic fit at all. Even if he has a good season at the plate, he's not a strategic fit. In regards to 32, he sounds more unlikable that way.
  7. You're right, we shouldn't judge Frazier solely on one bad season. But it becomes hard not to when he's 32, potentially gets in the way of playing our prospects and costs 8 million (when this franchise has been penny pinchers and 8 million could have been better spent elsewhere). Add that all up, it's hard not to judge his one bad season.
  8. No oneisexpectingMateotoplay150gamesin2023. If you can't tell the difference between the wear and tear on Odor at age 28 who'd been in the ML since he was 20 and someone who, at age 27, is playing his first full ML season and ranks 98th/99th in sprint speed, then there's no use in continuing this conversation. If Mateo can play some OF, great.
  9. Well I’m glad we’ve identified Mateo as the lynchpin for the offense. When did 28 become the peak for a player? He’s a guy who’s got one year of ML experience under his belt, not an NFL running back.
  10. KeItH LaW HaTeS tHe OrIoLeZ!!!!11
  11. Yeah but he played for more teams than just the Phillies! There’s some options here.
  12. Yeah but if I were managing Rivera that means I’d be managing the Yankees and I’m not interested in that. Checkmate, Froberto.
  13. That’s good information. But I don’t find Santander particularly interesting. Quite the opposite, actually.
  14. Well I'm glad Soto squashed those last season, then.
  15. We sort of are. We agree that Mateo isn't a long term solution but I don't mind having a defensive minded SS. I want to see what Ortiz can do but I'm not 100% sold that he'll be an upgrade from a WAR perspective. If he hits better -which is a low bar to hurdle- and is good with the glove, he should get the spot.
  16. Ah. This is where I thought you were going with that. I think Ted Williams would have had a stroke at the idea of hitting .242 over the course of a season. The ~.140sh separation between their batting averages and on base percentages is not lost on me, though.
  17. This was a good article, worth reading. If Diaz can figure out how to hit, we could have something. Chances are he probably won't, though.
  18. I think that's in a world where Hays isn't on the Orioles. Sorry in advance, Frobby. I figured McKenna would be the 4th outfielder but it appears that's up for grabs right now.
  19. Mullins seems to be slipping before our very eyes.
  20. So you admit to generalizations in your arguments. I'm not lobbying for Mateo playing every day but I'm comfortable with him starting the season as the OD SS. I'm fully expecting him to lose his grip on the position as Henderson/Westburg/Ortiz force the issue. But the holes in his game have been exposed plenty. He's a great glove man, he's a weak hitter who can go on a bit of a tear and look like he's putting it together but he really isn't and he can steal bases at a good clip. The hole in his game is that he's a bad hitter. That's really it. What? The shift is the first good argument you've seen in favor of Mateo's value? No one has said this. Every GM in baseball did, you're sure about that? How are you so sure that Elias shopped him? Where was it reported? I can see an elite defensive left side of the infield (as I said, until someone else forces the issue and Mateo moves on) with Henderson at third and Mateo at SS. I'm not so sure why you're so dead set on Henderson at SS, it's not as if he loses value while playing third.
