  1. You didn't see this movie? They made a book out of it, too.
  2. Urias just won a Gold Glove. Mateo probably should have. Urias had a 3.6 rWAR season, Mateo had a 3.4 rWAR season. Explain how they don't have any trade value?
  3. Don't care about MASN dispute and I sure don't care about the Nats and whatever hiccups are in their potential sales process. Someone wake me up when the Angelos family sells the team. If the MASN dispute holds that up, well so be it, I'm confident that someday, somehow the team will be sold.
  4. It is my hope that if Adam Frazier's OBP is what it was last year in Seattle, they don't keep trying him at the top of the order in hopes that he regains his 2018 skills.
  5. If he gets more than 50 at bats in Baltimore this year something is wrong.
  6. This was a great read and Watkins is a easy guy to root for.
  7. Best case: 105 wins, sweep the Yankees in the playoffs on route to winning a World Series over the Dodgers. Worst case: 1988 team looks like the '27 Yankees. All of our prospects turn out to be terrible players. The truth is somewhere in the middle.
  8. We gotta get to 20 pages for Darwinzon, right?
  9. While a lot of this article was year by year, blow by blow, "Hardy and the Brewers did this, followed up by his move to the Twins where he posted this slash line..." the summary, the last paragraph was very good. Yes, he was one of his era's best shortstops.
  10. In regards to the "depth" issue, there's no one that could replace Adley if he went down. McCann is a good backup and I think he's the one acquisition we got this offseason that most of us can agree on. We should feel WAY better about the catching situation headed into this year compared to where we were last year. We knew Adley was going to hit the majors in 2022, it was just a matter of when. But in the meantime, the catching situation was pretty dire. I think this board overrates the backup catcher position a little bit, especially when it comes to looking at who's behind McCann if Adley were to hit the IL with an injury. The options aren't great, Bemboom is probably the guy who'd get the first look. Maybe Maverick Handley which, at that point, someone needs to check on wildcard to see if he hasn't spontaneously combusted from sheer excitement. But when I say overrates the backup catcher position, I'm saying that a lot of you guys need to understand that odds are we're not going to have a stud back there waiting to step in if, God forbid, Adley AND McCann go down. Or if McCann goes down and we need a good backup for Adley. If there's a stud catcher out there, they're not waiting behind a guy like Adley. We're looking for, like, a Charlie O'Brien type. Chrinos couldn't hit a lick last year but at least he wasn't awful as Severino who, at times, literally could not catch a baseball. I think this board has a very hard time accepting that a backup catcher is most likely going to be a flawed player (terrible hitter, won't cost you anything behind the plate on defense/adequate hitter, terrible at blocking balls in the dirt, etc). The cavalier attitude that we need some great backup catcher is weird. Because if that catcher was great, they wouldn't be a backup here, they'd probably be starting (or at least platooning) somewhere else.
  11. You guys gotta pump the brakes. Frobby asked for one player, you guys are trying to field an entire team. James Earl Jones and Kevin Costner aren't walking through that door, folks. Why Tettleton? He's not playing in front of Adley.
  12. It would have to be a pitcher of sorts. I'm probably going Mussina and I'm not sure if that's allowed per @Frobby's rules since he is a Hall of Famer but not in there as an Oriole. Or a Yankee for that matter. But if I can't go with Mussina,@24fpssaid '79 Flanagan, that would be a good addition for sure. But I'm going with the '69-'72 era Mike Cuellar. Great pitcher, a lefty, can pitch a lot of innings and would be cool to have a guy nicknamed Crazy Horse on the team. A runner up would be Gregg Olson. Not because our bullpen is in need but from a selfish perspective I want to see that curveball again.
  13. There are lots of Halls of Fame that Frank Robinson and Jim Palmer are not a part of. In fact, I would suspect that there are more Halls of Fame that they're NOT in than Halls of Fame that they ARE in.
  14. Good. Keep signing them. I'm not even excited about the 2 million kid. IIRC, Ronald Acuna was signed for like 100k. The fact that we're getting these guys is great.
  15. Omar Daal? Good lord sir, have you watched an Orioles game in the past 15 years?
  16. If you could put one Orioles Hall of Famer (National Baseball Hall of Fame, not the Orioles Hall of Fame) on the 2023 team, who would it be? Cal Ripken Jr. SS/3B Brooks Robinson 3B Frank Robinson RF Jim Palmer SP Eddie Murray 1B Earl Weaver M For arguments sake, we're going to assume each of these guys is in their prime.
  17. Not getting my hopes up but it'd be cool if Gunnar won it.
