  1. FIP is 3.24. But the WHIP is 1.552
  2. Yeah, I agree...Harvey has looked solid. He hit 96 yesterday, apparently that's the first time he's done that in quite some time. I think he'll continue to perform well. I'm glad he's here so far.
  3. OBP >>>>> Power. I want great starting pitching and an elite bullpen, preferably with guys that can keep the ball on the ground. Elite infield defense. I'd be happy to sacrifice elite outfield defense for average defense if it meant having fantastic OBP.
  4. He might rip it up this year in the minors and earn it. Doubtful, but who knows?
  5. I don't necessarily like speculating either but we're dorks on a baseball message board. Speculating is what we're going to do.
  6. True, but Grienke is also incredibly smart. Not to say Kjerstad isn't, but Grienke's taken his issues and spun them in a way to make himself come across as some sort of eccentric genius (which he probably is) that people still like. There's a generation of fans out there who don't remember that Grienke almost gave up the game due to his mental health issues.
  7. I don't think you're completely naive, but Galvis is here on a one year deal. Richie Martin will probably be with the organization next year. I doubt Galvis will be. So if Martin levels his game up this year while in AA or AAA, he might have a shot next year. He'll be in his age 27 season. Certainly not a prospect anymore but will have some room to grow.
  8. Not from what I've seen. It's being discussed over in the minors section.
  9. It's a joke, bro. C'mon. Casper, the Friendly Ghost? Kjerstad has disappeared and not been seen or heard from in quite some time...aka ghosting. So...Casper Kjerstad.
  10. I agree with your post but especially the bolded part. This makes me think it's a mental health/desire to play issue. It's sad to say but many people don't understand mental health issues/anxiety issues...And if he all of a sudden doesn't have a desire to play or wants to back out of everything completely, that'd spark a backlash on social media from fans. I guess what I'm trying to say is that...if you're Kjerstad and these are the things you're dealing with, there's no real upside in making these issues publicly known. 22 years old, went 1-2 in the draft and just signed a contract for a few million and you're going to open up about your mental health issues or how you've lost your desire to play? Let's be real, there's going to be a certain contingent of people out there that'll lash out against you. "5.2 million to play baseball and you're depressed? What a loser!" etc, etc....tweets and comments on Instagram, etc. It's probably best to just keep quiet and not say anything about it if you're Kjerstad and these are the things you're dealing with.
  11. Hobgood looks like a world beater compared to Casper Kjerstad so far.
  12. I'm not sure how I like how he drags his arm across his body at the end of his follow through. That looks like it puts a lot of strain on the side of the shoulder. But whatever, I'm not going to nitpick the dude's mechanics. If we didn't learn anything from Arrieta, we didn't learn anything. Let that guy do what makes him successful.
  13. Wouldn't have picked Casper Kjerstad at 1-2 though! Takes special talent to do that.
  14. I don't really think ML hitters that have been around for awhile get "take" signs. I can't remember the last time I saw a hitter step out of the box and look down at the third base coach to get a "swing" or "take" sign. I don't believe thats a thing anymore...now you might have a manager or a hitting coach talk to a player after the game to explain why they shouldn't swing but I don't think there's swing and take signs anymore. I don't mind batters having the agency to swing on a, 2-0, 2-1, 3-0, 3-1 count. Those are hitters counts for a reason, usually because the pitcher wants to bear down and throw a fastball for a strike and they're not going to try and dot a corner with it.
  15. This offense isn't going to score runs consistently. I've said it before, I'll say it again...too many strikeouts, low OBP. This team will slump and slump hard. Boom or bust.
  16. That's good, but Buck ain't here.
  17. Well he has so far. But I see your point and I agree.
  18. In the high strikeout era we're in, I doubt he sets a single season record. That would suck if he did, though. He also hit a dinger today, so it wasn't all bad. I think he'll be fine this year.
  19. "You know I've never had a cup of coffee, Melanie?" Hilarious, Kevin Brown.
  20. They've been pretty bad my entire life. So I guess that the answer here is: ∞
  21. I'll be able to watch a movie or something tonite, at least.
