My theory on draft status/prospect status is in play here. If this were a 1st round pick putting up those numbers this board would be foaming at the mouth.

Well if I have a wide sense of territory, I don't know what to say about cherry picking 11 starts and ignoring the total body of work. I'll grant you that Millwood had some good stretches, I'm not ignoring that but I also don't think that's a good argument. Daniel CaBBrera had good stretches, for example. Most pitchers that last 16 years in the big leagues as Millwood did will have good stretches like that or even good complete seasons. However, I can't look at someone who lead the league in losses (even though losses can be a misleading stat, I am assuming his run support was terrible..as you initially noticed, he was a hard luck loser) with a 5.10 ERA (and his FIP wasn't far off at 4.86 so we can't blame the defense too much for that) and think that they had anywhere near a "decent season". Oddly enough, he was a tough luck winner as 2 out of his 4 wins came in the June/July bad stretch that he had. He was near the end of the line by the time he got here, he only made 37 starts after his season in Baltimore. We can agree to disagree. I see where you're coming from and acknowledge it wasn't all bad when he was here.

Then how'd he end up with a 5.10 ERA? That's Mike Wright territory.

Well, as usual, CoC, you're correct. Dunno why I thought he'd won a Cy Young.

Like '98 or '99. Maybe 2000. All I know is that when he got to Baltimore that was way in the rearview mirror and he was doo doo brown.

Can't believe that guy won a Cy Young. Rode that season all the way to that 130 million, I believe. I think people thought Maddux/Smoltz/Glavine would rub off on him and he'd be great. That's how good THOSE guys were. They got Kevin Millwood PAID.

Didn't appear to have his best stuff today but still gutted it out. Settled down after a 30+ pitch inning and still figured out a way to win. Pretty awesome.

Sums up how I feel. The stuff just isn't there to have him have a good start almost every time out. I didn't watch the game today but 4 hits in 5 innings isn't bad. Of course, he can't keep the ball in the park and as great as Albert Pujols was...giving up 2 homers to 2019 Albert Pujols is pretty bad. Don't know if he'll throw a gem or if he'll struggle to get through 5 or if he'll be downright terrible. Odds are usually on the latter two.

I wonder how many chances he'll get out there.

I'm reminded when Josh Towers looked like the 2nd coming of Greg Maddux. Here's hoping Means' career turns out better.

That's not a bad lineup. I'd put Smith in front of Mancini but whatever. Also, in hopes that Davis is still heating up and making a change, I'd put him in front of Ruiz who's batting .233 over his last 30 at bats.

I know it was mentioned before but Gausman's ERA is at 4.80 now. WHIP is still real good at 1.067 so no one can say I'm only looking at the bad stuff. Someone explain this to me, though. So, 4.80 ERA, 4.09 FIP. K/BB ratio is 33/10. K rate is 9.9. So how's he got a -0.1 WAR? And I wasn't even a Gausman fan, yet I still feel like I should be defending him to the WAR gods. I also don't understand how the 1.067 WHIP, 3/1 K/BB ratio and 9.9 k rate = 4.80 ERA. Weird. Those are some good peripherals. I am assuming that ERA comes down. This is what I don't get, I looked at his stats after we got him and couldn't figure out why he's ranked so low. He's produced everywhere, what gives?

Craig Gentry was a guy that would seemingly play once every week and a half and I'd be like "Oh yeah, he's still here."

Titanic homer by Schoop. He's not ripping it up like he was in 2017 but I think he's better than he was last year, that's for sure. I'd like to see the data on it, but I think he hit pitches the hardest out of anyone while he was here. Everything seemed to be a bullet with that guy when he made contact.
