  1. I'm not saying he needed to be full sprint but it was clearly lackadaisical. If you couldn't see that I can't help you. He even acknowledged it himself. You'd think he would have been thrilled to put a ball in play but clearly not.
  2. He shouldn't be standing short of first base with the bat in his hand.
  3. When you don't get the opportunity to even get out of the box very often, you need to be ready to go. This is a pattern for him and a guy who is fighting to stay on a ML roster should not be doing things like this.
  4. He was just standing short of first with the bat in his hand until the ball dropped. He just constantly makes mental blunders on the bases and in the field but won't be sat down for it because his ego is being treated with kid gloves for some reason. It's incredibly frustrating to watch.
  5. Agreed, he was terrible in April but has been a bit better since. His issue is he provides negative defensive value so he is going to have to really turn into a .900+ OPS guy to be particularly valuable.
  6. 1. All offseason, I was adamant Mateo was at peak value, the bat would never improve and his value was too reliant on advanced defensive metrics that I didn't trust to keep up going forward. Then in April, I was convinced I was wrong about him. So I'm embarrassed that I was wrong about being wrong. 2. I thought Stowers would seize one of the corner OF spots from Hays or Santander sooner rather than later this season. Obviously sporadic playing time and injuries were a factor, but given the years Hays and Santander are having in conjunction with that I was dead wrong about this one.
  7. How could we forget our old friend Jace Peterson?
  8. If you mean that he will take a look at them just for reference, then yeah maybe. If you mean that he will never outperform McKenna's current offensive production then I think you're nuts.
  9. He had a .207 ISO at Norfolk, I don't think he turns into a huge power hitter but I agree he has plenty of power and I think it will start to show once he gets more comfortable.
  10. I figured the answer was something like this, I wasn't sure how much leeway a team gets before they actually need to add an acquired player to the active roster. He's been on the team for less than 24 hours I thought we'd have a little more time before being forced to add him but I don't know exactly how those rules work.
  11. Why would you make this move today and go into tonight's game one reliever down rather than just make the move tomorrow morning?
  12. I think Flaherty is better than a lot of people are giving him credit for but this price seems a little steep to me for two months of him.
  13. I saw on twitter that he was scratched due to illness.
  14. Since he was called back up last year, he now has a 3.16 ERA over 162.2 IP. That's a pretty hefty sample size of being very good.
  15. At this point he should be starting maybe once per week at most.
  16. Bassitt hasn't been any better than Gibson. I'd rather have Gibson at 1/10 than Bassitt at 3/63.
  17. I do not understand the hesitation to make this move. I think they are getting way too bogged down on the defensive value Mateo brings and I personally sincerely doubt there would be any noticeable dropoff in that regard if Ortiz took his starting job. Mateo now has just shy of 1000 ML PAs that clearly show he can't hit. He is never going to be able to hit. Time to move on.
  18. Hope he gets moved to AAA soon so he can start working on the 700 PAs he'll need to accrue to get called up.
  19. I assume you mean Ortiz, not Frazier?
  20. He really stepped last year to plug a hole in our rotation and pitched adequately. Seems like a good guy and it's admirable he was able to get some significant big league time after so much time in the minors. I'll be rooting for him and wish him nothing but the best.
  21. In 2019 we let Mullins ride with a .337 OPS for all of 74 PA before sending him down and he eventually made his way all the way back to AA. Mateo has 4 extra base hits and 5 BBs since May 1, it is beyond time to stop running him out there everyday.
  22. Well as long as we don't inexplicably have this one at DH frequently it should be fine.
  23. Yeah...it's time to pull the plug for me. I'm fine with keeping him on the roster as the 26th man for an occasional spot start and as a pinch runner/defensive replacement but it's now been 7 weeks of him flailing away looking like a pre-DH NL pitcher at the plate. His OPS is now lower than last season and a whopping .643 over his last 751 PA dating back to the start of last season.
