  1. He could stay out all night and have to go right back to announcing picks tomorrow (if they're still doing that tomorrow).
  2. I'll say they must have some extreme confidence in their ability to develop hitters if they think they can turn a career .246 hitter in 867 college PAs into a major leaguer.
  3. I hope we take Fabian at 67 just to see the chaos that will ensue from some people.
  4. It is not at all the equivalent. TOR starting pitching is traded frequently. Drafting pitching is also much more volatile than even quarterbacks in the NFL. It's a complete apples to oranges comparison. You can find contenders littered with starting pitching they didn't draft.
  5. I sincerely doubt Sigs analytics say that you do not need to pitch to be successful.
  6. Another young college player...basically the college version of a helium guy who had zero track record other than last summer in the Northwoods league before exploding into ACC Player of the Year this year.
  7. I understand that quote is uninspiring, but I read it to mean that he could get the hit tool to below ML average which combined with the plus-power could give him some decent upside. The profile reminds me of Stowers a bit.
  8. I'm probably biased because I get so much Rangers coverage here, but I just don't have faith in that organization to do much of anything right. I see them as the Colorado Rockies of the AL in terms of having no real organizational plan.
  9. Rangers egregiously drafting for need. I assume they took him because they thought he was the most ML ready pitcher in the draft.
  10. I'm thrilled Westburg is hitting as well as he is, but I'd like to see the 3BB/22K ratio improve.
  11. Can't believe they didn't put an asterisk on his baseball savant page for that one.
  12. Baseball Savant has him in the 80th percentile for outs above average this season. I think he's turning into a pretty good defensive first baseman.
  13. After last night's game we now have 6 regulars in the lineup with an OPS+ of 100 or better.
  14. I don't think anybody is taking Ortiz in the Rule V. He would likely struggle to put up a .500 OPS in the majors next year, I would protect some of the potential relief contributors over him.
  15. I still don't think he is managing the ML roster for that purpose.
  16. I think Santander has pretty much established what he is at this point, a fringe ML regular. He has a .298 career OBP and .743 OPS, is relegated to corner OF and DH and his defense is and will continue to decline as his speed falls off. I don't know how much value we are going to get there.
  17. You love to bring up Lacy and yet ignore the fact that the early returns on that pick are pretty poor too. Can't stay healthy, terrible command. He gives off big time reliever vibes.
  18. He is showing some signs of life again. Has an .845 OPS over the last 7 days and is up to .639 overall on the season.
  19. Of course nobody cared about the wall until it robbed the yankees of a home run.
  20. He's only on the taxi squad, did not actually get called up.
  21. Just saw a tweet that Strasburg is the only other pitcher in MLB history to have an 11+K/0BB game in one of his first three career games.
  22. Now has an impressive 16 Ks to only 3 BB in his first 17 ML innings. He certainly is passing the eye test so far to me.
  23. His 1.88 FIP and 2.28 xFIP are both career highs, I'm not worried about him at all.
