  1. The team is 54-35 so saying it was egregious to have not promoted anyone when they did is just hyperbolic. At some point you have to give the people running the Orioles the credit they deserve for the decisions they have made and when they have made them. None of us know if they would have had a better record if they promoted them earlier but the record they have is the second best in the AL and the third best in baseball. This two years after only winning 52 games in total.
  2. I don't know 1966-1983 went pretty well.
  3. The Orioles play 13 games in a row after the All Star Break. I say they call up Grayson and pitch 6 starters for that stretch. It is a away to hold some of the innings down.
  4. Remember the game thread on Tuesday with all the posts the season was over? The Orioles won't finish above 500? Coswer call up was too late. This team is resilient if anything.
  5. 270 or above which is certainly attainable. If he ends up with 27 plus HR and 270 or better average he has a great chance. Cal Ripken won it in 1982 with .264, 28 HR's 93 RBI's. Cal started hitting in the middle of May that year.
  6. I saw this and just placed a bet on Gunnar at +300.
  7. Mountcastle's rehab assignment ends during the All Star Break. They will have to option him to keep him in Norfolk.
  8. One of there better ones was suspended for the rest of the year for domestic violence today.
  9. Kremer has allowed 3 er or less in 10 of his last 12 starts. 2 stinkers in there but I will take that the rest of the season. I think Kremer, Bradish, Grod, and Wells can be pretty good for the second half.
  10. Cowser looks like he is pretty loose out there. The bright lights of playing his first game in Yankee Stadium don't seem to phase him.
  11. Again like Westburg, I don't think they waited this long to bring him up and not play him just about everyday. It maybe for Hayes if he isn't ready to go the rest of the week. Either way if he does ok and Hayes gets healthly eventually he will get at bats at the expense of O'Hearn and or Hicks. More because he is the future and they are not. It has been a tough week but it is time to find out what these young guys can do the rest of the way. Throw in a pretty talented pitcher in Grod and let's see what happens.
  12. I am curious if Adley will take swings from the right side, left side or both? Any thoughts?
  13. Hard to argue with any of that but I do think a light has gone on with Bradish and I expect him to be better for the most part in the second half. I think he could really be an ace or close to it.
  14. Peter Angelos did the Chris Davis fiasco not John Angelos. The issue is different now because Peter Angelos had plenty of cash flow from his law firm so he could spend money that John Angelos doesn't have from outside sources. The Baltimore Orioles is John Angelos only source of revenue. I don't expect John Angelos to ever buy the top tier free agents. He may be willing to sign his home grown stars but that remains to be seen.
  15. Yes sir, Its a win, win for me!!
  16. O'Hearn has been a good story but I have to believe Cowser will be a better player for the rest of the season in the majors. Play Tony at first. Listening to Elias on the broadcast today he thinks he is ready. See if O'Hearn can get through waivers and go down to AAA in case of injuries.
  17. Elias just said Cowser is diserveing of a phone call and there is no doubt he will contribute to the team this year.
  18. I find this interesting that they are expanding their lineup. I thought Greg Olson and Brian Roberts did good jobs filling in for Palmer and McDonald when they were gone. It will be interesting to hear them on the air. https://www.thebaltimorebanner.com/sports/orioles-mlb/masn-broadcast-brad-brach-mike-devereaux-jason-la-canfora-ZTPZ52C7OVC5PCD3P4Z62RSVWI/
  19. You have another left handed starter so he is a lock to be in the lineup. It will be interesting to see if he starts against a right hander on Wednesday.
