Doesn’t look like Elias is working the phones right now! -
Why isn't Ortiz in Baltimore instead of Mateo?
accinfo replied to Greg Pappas's topic in Orioles Talk
I think 100% they add one catcher. -
I suspect this may be one of Mateo's last chances against a lefthander tonight. They have 4 RH pitchers ahead of them. It is hard to ignore what Ortiz is doing at AAA.
-
The Trifecta in the lineup today, McKenna, McCann, and Mateo!! Let the posts begin!!
-
Because he isn't 100% healthy either after getting spiked the night before.
-
What that means is it isn't bad enough to put him on the IL for 10 days. They are going to see how he feels day to day. We will see. He had this earlier in the year.
-
I suspect Mateo gets a start against a left hander tomorrow. It may be close to his last chance but it sounds like Gunnar will be a day to day thing. With Gunnar hurt I just don't see them DFA Mateo and playing another rookie in Ortiz. Yes he is hitting at AAA but so was Cowser and Westburg. Do you throw in another rookie with Hicks and Mullins out as well?
-
Cowser and Westburg were smashing the ball at AAA. It doesn't mean they come up to the majors and smash the ball at this level. Everyone here said we promoted them too late, yet all we have done is win since they came up despite them having some offensive struggles. We lost a one-run game to last year's World Series runner up in their ballpark. Hyde is saying Henderson is maybe out a couple of days. So I am betting Mateo gets a start against a left hander tomorrow. Let the meltdown begin! I do think Mateo is a cat on his last life.
-
I can't wait until the meltdown on this thread when Mateo and McKenna are in the starting lineup tomorrow against a lefthander.
-
Bob Nightengale was on Haney's show today and said he spoke with the owner of the Angels just 2 days ago and he isn't going to trade Ohtani. That they make $20 million on him in things like attendance, advertising, etc and they are still in a pennant race.
-
Who are these players on the roster that are so much more talented then the other players in the AL? Felix Bautista, I will give you that one. However, no one else is having some kind of career stellar year. Adley has been good, Hayes has been to this point better than expected. Gunnar is going to be a great player but he is hitting .244, not eye popping numbers yet. I like our starters but none are dominating.
-
Really? He is the Manager of the Year.
-
That "prisoner" has the Orioles with the best record in the AL going into their 100 game. It would be amazing to see the Orioles record if we didn't see all these bad decisions.
-
Mateo is going to start against left handed pitchers. Hyde has said he is going to try to rest Adley. Nothing head scratching here.
-
The game threads are pure entertainment!! Someone ( I am too lazy) should just pull all the negative comments into one long quote at the end of the game. Combine them with some of the comments from the daily lineup. (McCann and Mateo in the lineup, "Bad Management") for example.

Treasurer of Maryland calls out the Orioles lease negotiations
accinfo replied to Going Underground's topic in Orioles Talk
Peter Angelos still owns the Orioles. I am CPA and the whole point of waiting until someone passes in the tax code is the people that inherit his estate get the asset with the stepped up basis the day he passes. In other words their "tax cost" is the fair market value at the time of death. -

Two very different situations. The Colts were looking at both Jacksonville and Indianapolis where there were football stadium's to play in right away. As much as that pained me the State of MD didn't have a first class stadium plus another $600 million to add to it. Baseball won't allow anyone to move until the Tampa stadium situation is resolved. They also aren't going to allow John Angelos move the Orioles when he doesn't even own the team. He runs it but his father owns the team. I am not saying there is no senario where they couldn't move but not next year. -

Well the deadline is the end of the year. They have no where to play in Nashville. They have to build a stadium. They are not moving.
