I’ll take Ryan Mountcastle, but not because i don’t like Austin Hays. I think Hays is an excellent all around player and perfect to play our LF. But he just can’t seem to stay healthy. If Hays could ever put together a full healthy season, I think his numbers would be eye popping. But I wouldn’t hold my breathe

I also think that due to the no shift rules, the perfect set up would be Mateo at SS and Ortiz forcing his way into an everyday 2b job.

I would say it is Mateo, followed very closely by Ortiz, then Gunnar and then Westburg.

I am not at all for trading pitching for Burnes. We need to consider trading from our surplus (infielders), maybe an outfielder. But we really need to stockpile our own pitchers and possibly add to the pitching.

Nice move, had to get a decent backup catcher and we did. Sounds like 2.5/yr. for two years and a flier type mil player. I know that some will find fault in this move, but I just think that’s some folks nature. Me? I’m happy with it

I was thinking paul Blair level defense. Lol, Jackie who? I do think mateo has the tools for CF, and I also think his bat will improve. The guy has power to go with the speed. I am very reluctant to move on from him, but I do want him moved out of the way in our middle infield where we have ridiculous prospect depth.

I think Mateo would make an excellent candidate to move to Cf in the event of a Mullins trade. He’s got all the tools to play there, and a better arm than Mullins. I like Mateo, and i think his bat will play better going forward. but I also want him out of the way of our IF prospects. If Mullins would bring us back #2 or #3 starter, I’d look to move Mateo to CF and give ortiz a long look at SS.

I voted no. Because I am a big believer in the kids, not so much that i dislike Frazier. He has a lot of versatility, and he’s a decent player. I just want the prospects to play, have opportunity to play

With the glut of high level middle infield prospects the Orioles have, taking offers on both Mateo and Urias makes a lot of sense. And I think they both have quite a bit of trade value, more than most on here think. I like both of these guys, but if the return was strong enough I would trade them, due to the arrival of Ortiz, Westburg and now Frazier.

I’m onboard with this move. Givens strengthens the pen, is a really good guy and a known quantity. Happy to have him back.

I would like a Wacha signing, said it earlier in the off-season. He would be great depth for the rotation, and when he’s healthy he’s quite good. That said, I bet we won’t sign him.

Frobby, does that mean that you expect this to be a Carlos Christmas? or one of them, followed by trade(s)? I don’t know if I see that happening for either Correa or Rodon, but it is an interesting take.

We are fine. Elias has done a terrific job and he will continue to do just that. It’s crazy imo to freak out now. I like the talent we have, and i’m not going to jump off the cliff because we didn’t sign a 34 year old pitcher to a stupid contract.

If the Orioles are not going to just straight out pay money to sign a guy like Rodon, what makes you think they would unload a bunch of top prospects and shell out big money for Burnes? It just is not going to happen. Forget about.

I would listen on Mullins, but need to be almost blown away to trade him. I would listen on every veteran player we have, but would not be in favor of trading away multiples of our top prosoects. I think that’s where Elias is on this too. SS is one position where maybe you trade one of them not named zholliday, because you have so many

The only trade material I would see trading are our young, established ML players that we think we can backfill with guys off the farm. i.e, Urias, Mateo, Hays, etc. I think the only way for the Orioles to stay relevant over a 10 year window, is through a strong minor league system. I wouldn’t even complain if some of those guys were traded to further bolster the minor league system.

No, i would not. the farm is our greatest asset, and I may be alone, but I think there are several stars among them

This team is on the way up, and there are still a whole lot of guys in the pipeline. The reports i hear, Means is looking great. it’s not hard to imagine Grayrod and a healthy Means turning our pitching into a strong positive.

OK, right off the bat let me admit I am a big Stowers fan. And i would be working him out a lot this spring at first base as well as the outfield. If he can hold his own at first base, it would increase his AB’s a good bit. I’m all about getting him 400 plus AB’s in 2023.

I think michael Wacha would be a nice addition. I’d sign him to a deal up to 2 years in length, no problem. And yes, Benintendi does it for me too. He is a very solid all around player, nice OBP, and left handed bat. Not a power hitter, but really has no glaring weakness.

The O's are one year further on a proper rebuild. Will there be regressions? Sure. Will their be new breakout young players from the pipeline? Sure. Overall, my guess is that as is this is a 90 + win team.

That’s an excellent post, and it’s probably the only rational thing to do. I would be happy with Wacha and Conforto to be honest. I have always like Wacha and Conforto has a big upside to him without betting your financial future on it. I am not at all for trading away the prospects at this point. I would be ok with some smart trades of guys like Urias, Mateo and Hays, but that is only because I see a better upside to the replacements on hand in our “pipeline”.
