  1. Sure. And Erik Bedard. And Reggie Jackson and a few others over the years. But it's just so much more fun when the complaining tops out over some perfectly decent human being like Adam Frazier taking playing time away from some more deserving top 50 prospect rotting away in AAA.
  2. Acquiring Jack Flaherty at the deadline last season made me realize that having to root for someone I personally disliked degraded the experience. I don't want Soto on the O's either.
  3. Perhaps by measuring team revenue and other rational metrics. But Steve Cohen of the Mets is individually worth $16 billion which is three times the net worth of the Dodgers' Mark Walter so determining what team is richest starts to get complicated.
  4. Just a couple of things... This year's Yankees team is really bad at defense judging from what I saw. They reminded me of the Orioles teams from the MacPhail years. OTOH the O's are a real joy to watch in the field - no lack of confidence anywhere. The O's can beat an age-old nemesis even when their offense barely shows up. Big props to the O's starters for stepping up. Stanton's decline is remarkable. If Boog Powell raced him to 1B today, my money would be on Boog. I genuinely dislike Juan Soto.
  5. Tough loss tonight (not that the O's offense helped much), but once again O's pitching was not destroyed. Burnes needed more pitches than ideal early, but really he didn't have too many mistakes and Ramirez had a particularly refreshing inning IMO.
  6. Good inning by Ramirez.
  7. Way too many pitches for Burnes.
  8. I predict we will see fewer of them during day games in August.
  9. So is there a low strike tonight or not?
  10. He earned somewhere around $50,000 for that plate appearance.
  11. Zone looks pretty tight so far.
  12. As of this morning, Bucknor is 80 out of 81 measured by Acc with John Bacon last, but it looks like Bacon has only called one game. Unsurprisingly Laz Diaz, Hunter Wendlestedt, and Angel Hernandez also look to be in the bottom 20%.
  13. I don't think the Yankees will destroy Orioles pitching this week. I think the Orioles are now in their heads and from the sixth inning on tonight the Yankees looked increasingly helpless, Soto's bomb excepted.
  14. Fantasy Baseball Poisoning is a pervasive and tragically understudied public health concern.
  15. Leaving aside Westburg's hot start with the bat, I don't see his glove being booted out of the infield regardless of decisions being made about Mayo, Norby and Holliday during the remainder of 2024.
  16. I think it's better to avoid false choices and gross exaggeration. It would make me very sad if the Orioles fan base didn't feel entitled to better than Kevin Pillar at this stage of the rebuild.
  17. I predict that by next year even Mike Elias won't consider the O's a reasonable landing spot for washed-up vets.
  18. After coughing up a couple against the A's, it's nice to see a gritty win against the Yankees.
  19. I like Coulombe here, but a ground ball would be nice.
