  1. 66 AB vs. RHP, 22 vs. LHP. Not a strict platoon, but ass-backwards.
  2. He's played in 35 games. It looks like more than half of them are complete games.
  3. Joey Ortiz is currently hitting .261/.359/.466/.825 over 88 AB which works out to a 135 OPS+ . He's playing pretty much everyday in Milwaukee against both RHP and LHP. Maybe the O's are being too cute with all the platooning etc., and it's time to pick a direction with some of these guys and stick with it.
  4. Mayo alone would be an overpay for Miller. Generosity has its limits IMO.
  5. I think a great deal of arm and shoulder damage is cumulative starting long before a pitcher enters the organization's system.
  6. I don't see anything more remarkable than Elias did a professional job of planning for the inevitable.
  7. Irvin has never been on the “scrap heap”.
  8. You know, you have a point. Let's all hope Elias doesn't get smote in the forehead hard enough to convince him that trading Mayo and EBJr. for Mason Miller is a good idea.
  9. With control like David's, I wouldn't be so sure. I say sign him and keep Mayo and EBJr. This has become a genuinely bizarre thread.
  10. I voted Hays because that would be the the most sensible choice for the team. But put me firmly in the camp that believes giving Cowser a long leash at this point will pay dividends.
  11. Subtlety doesn't often work on the internet, but this is very funny.
  12. Chuck Thompson for me. As a kid he was the voice of summer.
  13. The Nats series was cursed from the first pitch on Tuesday. Many of us are glad to see it in the rear view mirror but this story is one for the ages.
  14. Last night and the night before was the first time I was able to listen to her at any length and I was more impressed than I thought I would be. That said, I think she still has a long way to go, but I also think a lot of the angst is misplaced. Matching her up with Ben was a very astute choice on somebody's part.
  15. I would much prefer Mayo in the lineup over Urias. I think the Holliday experiment means Mayo stays down until Elias feels like there will be enough playing time available for Mayo to fully make the transition. Right now the team as a whole isn’t playing well enough to carry a weak link anyway.
  16. Then we should spice up the thread title to reflect this developing situation: Studies Show O's First Baseman at Risk for Random Variation!
  17. My point is that several posters, including myself, found the thread title misleading. A lot of us know that the OH can be trusted as a source of credible news and opinion. If you want to erode that trust, one really good way to do it is to slant your thread titles as a cheap attention grab which is clearly the case here. In the end it's an annoyance and little more, but you got some worthwhile feedback on this.
  18. If that's the case, then there have been several missed opportunities with recent thread titles. Some proposed revisions: There's a developing situation with Jackson Holliday. Mike Elias' biggest failure? Michael Kopech could be an Oriole by Memorial Day. The situation is still developing. Jim Bowden has made a semi-rational trade proposal. No word yet on a possible identity theft. ... Fun.
  19. Got it. Tomorrow's another day.
  20. I agree with the write-up, but not the thread title. The O's didn't bring anything to the game worth stealing. Definitely the most unsatisfying game I've seen this year.
  21. The Corbin Burnes trade showed me that Elias is not going to put himself in a position to badly lose a trade. Maybe it's time to stop worrying about the downside to the degree we all seem to.
  22. A while back I took about 15 months off from all social media posting and I recommend everybody do something similar. OH is about 95% of all of it now for me, and life looks a whole lot different - in a good way.
  23. Because MLB has granted all of the umpires collectively specifically enumerated rights in exchange for their labor. Disputes need to follow a mutually agreed on course of action.
