  1. I think there's an excellent chance he'll be gone by the time we pick
  2. Gonna go out on a limb and say it will be someone no one has tied us to. Elias tends to defy industry expectations.
  3. Yeah, I don't think he's THIS homer prone. It's concerning, but you have to believe it will normalize somewhat. I'm more worried about the walks.
  4. I don't know that I'm a believer in Austin Hays. His BABIP this year is .387 and he's often injured and often struggles coming back from injuries. Plus he's about to start costing more money in arbitration. If his 2021/2022 is more of an indicator of his true talent, and you can find a team that believes this isn't just a career year for him, I'd send him packing for pitching. At that point he's basically a 2-win OF and I'm sure we can mostly replace that internally. As for Santander he was basically replacement level/slightly above until last year. We have better defensive options, and he only has one relatively expensive year left before free agency. Losing either player would be taking a hit this year, but if it allowed us to acquire multiple years of MLB starting pitching through a trade, I'd send one, maybe both of them out.
  5. I would absolutely send them Ortiz/Norby and more for any of those guys.
  6. Exactly the people I wanted as well. Glad I'm not running the Orioles draft.
  7. Ben Joyce has a 4.50 ERA this year, and a 5/4 K/BB in limited MLB action. His ERA was worse in AA before the Angels called him up. I mean, he's 22, but he's massively overhyped.
  8. There's no way he's going to finish a MLB season in which he had significant plate appearances with a .350 average
  9. Alberto's 2019 season was like 3.5 WAR and he hit .305/.329/.422. It was also the only year he really graded out positively with the glove. If anyone thought that was Prieto's baseline he'd be a top 100 prospect for sure. Is he capable of a season or three like that at his peak? I'd say it's possible. But I'm guessing for most of his career he'll be the kind of guy we're not going to miss. Also, note that Hanser Alberto has been worth 4.1 WAR over parts of seven seasons. My guess is Prieto might be a few wins better than that over a similar time frame.
  10. Yeah, Prieto is kind of a tweener for me. Not enough glove to be a utility infielder/super sub and not enough power to slide down the defensive spectrum. He reminds me of Hanser Alberto, though I think he could end up a bit better than him.
  11. Hicks is a free agent after the season, so there's that, too. If someone offered an organizational top 20 pitcher for him, I'd probably ship him out. We'll be fine without him. We'll be fine with him.
  12. Swings are complex. They may be fixed only to break again soon after.
  13. I'm not saying no one would give him a chance for O'Hearn money if the Orioles cut him. There's certainly the potential to be better. But I think it's obvious why people are down on him, and given the choice I'd rather go with O'Hearn. Mounty's approach at the plate seems inconsistent with the organization's philosophy. He might do better in a different organization. But Mounty has been trending down and O'Hearn is trending up (albeit in a small sample size).
  14. If he qualified, he'd be 127th out of 151 in OPS. He's also a poor defensive first baseman. So far this year, somehow, he's been worth 0.2 WAR. I think it's fair to say he's one of the worst players in the league. Replacement level first basemen aren't exactly exciting players
  15. I'm pretty sure Grayson has been down long enough to be 6+
  16. At this point, calling Irvin a 4 is generous. He's more like a 5/swingman, maybe. Prieto could probably get us a 5 all by himself
  17. Is anyone buying? He was DFA'd like a month ago. That said, if anyone offered any kind of interesting prospect for him, I'd print his plane tickets myself. Not to say he doesn't have value to this team, but we can do without him, especially now that Cowser is up
  18. Agreed. He's had some MLB success. Let's see if he can do it again
  19. Reality is they probably don't need to shut him down. The Verducci effect has been pretty well debunked. https://www.baseballprospectus.com/news/article/19497/baseball-therapy-fact-or-fiction-the-verducci-effect/ They should just let him throw however many innings he can as a starter this year. If he gets up to 150, 160, 170, I'm not bothered
