Adley and Gunnar are a long way from the hall of fame. The odds of both of them making it are probably like 1%

Who had fly into double play for Henderson's first MLB at bat?

Any reports on his D? I wonder if he's a plus CF like Mullins, or more a plus LF who can cover CF (which is still valuable)
Last I heard he was the latter

I hope so, because that's like the only thing he's bad at. If he can get that ironed out, we could be looking at a star

You don’t want to be an organization that is consistently smart, consistently wins and makes the playoffs and consistently churns out high level young players?
I'd like to be that with a bigger ML budget. I think that's what OP was trying to say

I think the 2 grounders to RF would have been fielded by Odor because he would have been playing the shift where's he's in shallow RF. I was the one who posted questioning whether they were playing a different shift with Vavra at 2B versus Odor.
The shift looked pretty much the same to me. Vavra might have been a bit shallower

So, question about today's game. Game thread chatter was saying the infield wasn't shifting the way they had been all season. If they had been shifting as they have with Urias at 3B and Odor at 2B, would that string of grounders in the 5th been minimized by a hit or two?
I was at the game and pretty close to the action down the right field line. I don't think that defensive arrangement would have changed anything. The grounders found holes for the most part. There was one Vavra dove for and missed, but you'd pretty much have to be a gold glove 2B to make that play.
The one that bounced to Odor and the runner beat the throw, Urias wouldn't have had either. Machado probably makes that play though -
My guess would be he has little spurts where he loses his command for a batter or two

I think this Ripken kid is going to play a lot of games for us

We can't trade for him because the deadline has passed. Just going to have to put in a waiver claim and hope for the best
-
I'm guessing nobody offered enough for an outfielder with inconsistent performance and an injury history for Elias to think it was worth pulling the trigger. And I'm fine with that. We're well past the point where we trade everybody for lottery tickets because we're desperate to acquire long-term talent

You can field that team. You are allowed to sign players to extensions. In a year where you are contending and playoff spots come down to a game or 2 quite often, you don’t field an inferior product.
Get them up now and let them get their feet wet.
You certainly are allowed to sign players to extensions, but the players have to sign them, too. Also hasn't really been the Orioles MO, though I'd like to see them handing them out like Cleveland and Atlanta.
If you wanted to call them up right now and let them start getting their feet wet, I can't say I disagree, but if you wait too much longer I think the service time becomes more valuable. Ideally people we're counting on for next year should have been here in July, IMO -

You have already gamed the service time. You are keeping those guys down until late April 2023, when you plan on contending?
You want to field an inferior product for 3ish weeks to start 2023?
If it lets us field a superior one for all of 2029, I think that's worth it.
-
Yeah, Stowers isn't the kind of guy you need to game the service clock on.
Henderson, Rodriguez, Hall, for sure are, and there are a few guys you could make a case for, but Stowers isn't close for me -
I'd expect a bit lower from him this year, but it's certainly possible
-
Team could have figured if he was going to miss the year anyway, or a year at some point in his development, we were better off giving his money to one of the late round overslots and getting another third round pick next year. Or maybe they just liked Carter Young more and when he took the money their overslot deal with McClean fell through.
Anyway, I'm not too beat up about this. Guy was going to be a massive work in progress and we're picking one spot lower next year -

Do we get a replacement pick next year if he doesn’t sign?
Yes. Any pick in the first three rounds is protected

Is there any advantage to going under $125k for rounds 11-20? Or is the full slot charged whether or not the club spends it? Say 18th round pick signs for $25k is that extra $100k to go overslot or it doesn't count towards overslot?
Doesn't count toward overslot. Advantage is you save money

My gut says yes, but no wouldn't surprise me

He only has 10 starts and has been playing behind a great defense which has helped him a lot to get those numbers.
His FIP is 3.84, so yes, you're somewhat correct. Still, 3.84 is solid so again I ask, what do you want?

Austin Voth doesn't belong in that group.
He has a 3.38 ERA since coming to the Orioles, what do you want?

What are we supposed to do, sign Mancini and Odor to five-year extensions? These guys are going to be gone sooner rather than later, and the rest of the club needs to be grown-ass men about it. The sooner Mancini and Odor are gone, the sooner someone who has a future with this club can step up into a leadership role in the clubhouse

He had a .385 OBP in Aberdeen which is very, very good. I think he's quite easily the best OF prospect they have and creates an interesting dilemma going forward. Stowers, Hays, Mullins, Cowser (Santander???) fighting for three spots with Kjerstad quietly building up behind them. If either or both of Beavers and Fabian, develop into a Stowers type profile then you have to factor them in as well. Having this surplus is an enviable position to be in but Elias and co. will still have to make the most prudent decisions on who stays in the org and who gets traded.
Four spots if someone DHs

I will be shocked if Young signs for any amount we can reasonably offer him
The Lopez trade is costing the O's wins

I will be shocked if Cade Povich is "nothing" at the MLB level. He may not end up the #2-3 starter we dreamed on, but I'll bet his floor is good reliever.
