No he didn’t
You're right. My mistake, he got a hit in the 9th inning.

I'm not wanting them to make a move with Jackson Holliday yet, but if it becomes inevitable then Norby deserves consideration.
Agreed, but I think the only problem with promoting Norby is that you have a very right-handed infield, with Gunnar the only lefty. I think it will be awhile if they decide to demote Holliday, but maybe Norby is the guy since he can play some outfield too.

Pinch hitting Urias for him tonight was pointless. You need to give him abs vs lefties if that was the excuse for leaving him down. Especially since there is no chance in hell is starts vs Ragens
Urias got a hit during the rally that led to the grand slam. Don't blame Hyde for pulling Holliday there.

Eh, the bullpen was due for a bad game but maybe not that bad. We definitely need more pitching whether it comes in the form of Bradish, Means and Povich -- which moves guys the bullpen (unless Povich or some other minor leaguer goes to the bullpen) -- or through a trade. Tomorrow will be interesting.

Oh following the game on gameday and took Roy's word for it.

I dont get why these soft tossers with mediocre stuff...stymies us..
Orioles were always better against hard throwers. Seems like they always struggled most against soft tossers.

This guy dominates lefties and we have 7 in the lineup.
He is so far this year but I'm guessing small sample size.

It just feels like when Cedric is struggling the whole team struggles. But it also seems like when he starts hitting the O's have the scariest offense around.
-
So they're best in the league at preventing walks and worst in the league at drawing them. I guess nobody walks in Baltimore.

I think Euclid may have used it when he was doing play-by-play for the Alexandria Asps in the Greek Empire League.
Reminds me of that Monty Python skit where Greek philosophers face off against German philosophers in soccer.

I think you have to be a subscriber because I'm not seeing the 3D icon. I might get a subscription in a month or two but not quite yet. Thanks to you and Tony for the info!

You have to "right click and drag" to move to a different position, can't do that on either the phone or iPad, but hey, if you can see this with decent wifi while at the game, that would be pretty awesome.
Gotta get better wifi at Camden Yards.
Is this free or are you guys subscribers at all? I can't find this feature yet.

Many good young players take time to adjust. It's possible he'll need to get sent back down for awhile but I kind of doubt it. He just needs to see more pitches and more pitchers.

Oh I love what he is doing. I like how you qualified that with the words “qualifying hitters” because we know Cowser has been the best hitter on the team thus far in the early going of the season.
True, but Westburg has had more than a third more at bats than Cowser. Cowser hasn't batted against lefties much yet while Westburg is now going up against pretty much everyone on a daily basis.

Anybody else see Tyler Wells on IL with elbow inflammation?

I think he and many of our players will get better. I don’t see him having more talent/ability than Gunnar, Cowser, or Holliday.
Westburg is currently batting .309 with a .977 OPS and 4 home runs. Best on the team of the qualifying hitters.

If Westburg hits a home run into LF, can we call the bleachers west world at that point? Is that the journey to the west?
Nice ones. Or How the West Was Won.

His signing makes even less sense. Elias had Maton and Wong in house. Maybe Wong had a higher salary if he made it, but why he felt a need to go get Kemp still makes no sense. I mean, why not just give Norby that time in the big leagues until they were going to bring up Holliday?
Just weird all around.I'm guessing Elias and Hyde felt Kemp was the best defender of the guys available. Norby deserves a shot somewhere soon -- but he too is not known as a plus defender and unlike the others he's a right-handed hitter, which they already have in Mateo and Urias.

Reminds me of the Buck days!
Jones and Schoop and company.
When Mountcastle is leading the team in walks...
Yeah I forgot they were pretty free swinging then too.
Generally I think of the O's have a tradition of plate discipline. Guys like Markakis, Rafael Palmeiro, Brady Anderson, Ken Singleton, etc.

Baseball. Cowser hot as crap and now looks like he's never seen a changeup or breaking ball outside.
I get the feeling this might be the kind of hitter Cowser will be for awhile. Up and down.
Also, lots of young aggressive hitters is a good thing, but the down side is the team is last in the league in walks. That should change but who knows when.

As much as I like O'Hearn, I do think the O's should at least consider trading him while his value is high and to free up space for Kjerstad or Mayo (unless the O's find a very good pitcher that might cost them Kjerstad or Mayo).
But there is a risk that whoever replaces O'Hearn will take time to adjust. On top of that I'm not sure how much O'Hearn has since he's really a platoon DH.
-
I wonder if the White Sox could make Garrett Crochet available this trade deadline. I bet they would be reluctant because he's so young and controllable and because he's putting up good numbers so far.

It’s just odd. Cowser and Westburg are the only ones overperforming. The rest are pretty much underperforming.
Mullins isn't underperforming anymore. He has an .827 OPS and .500 SLG.
O'Hearn is certainly not underperforming, neither is Mountcastle.
It's the top 3 in the lineup who are underperforming, but Gunnar feels like he could break open any minute. Adley is getting on base with a .333 OBP, but he's not driving the ball much. I think he need a little more rest, but he'll get on track soon I think.
Santander is pretty cold, but he was exactly the same last April. Then he picked it up the end of the month and starting ripping things up in May.
Then there are several guys in the minors waiting their turn if any of these guys can't produce. Just can't find a reason to really be concerned.

Jackson Holliday 2024

Cowser was not good last year. Not all promising young prospects are ready their first time up.
