Given Shaw v. Nimala I’d take the kid. Shawn’s hit tool makes his floor pretty high, IMO. I agree the NCAA stat line is remarkably similar. Norby is another second half scorcher away from getting some press. I think he’s better than his stats have indicated so far this year. I’ll admit t on being Shaw fanboy having gone to a half dozen UMD games this year. I just really like the kid.

If Shaw is available I can’t see them passing on his hit tool. I will be floored if they go pitcher in rounds 1-4.

He was sitting 97 and got it up to 99 last night. Looks like he throws a slider (announcer was calling a cutter) at 88/89. he gave up a bloop hit to Tyler Naquin. Got a strike out and weak pop up on the slider. Looks like he struggles with locating the slider a bit. Spiked the K and missed a few. Judging by the swing - it looked pretty effective. Seems like he throws his fastball with confidence. It was always in zone and he located it well.

I’ve been holding out hope he could help out in the pen down the stretch to save some arms. I haven’t seen him pitch in person yet, but on TV (sounds weird saying watching on my phone) he looks like a pretty big guy that should be able to dial up his stuff for shorter outings. We don’t have many SP slots to slide into for a non-TOR type guy. He looks like a guy that can read bats and knows how to pitch.

If the wind isn’t blowing the ball flies. If the winds blowing, it typically blows in off the water and kills fly balls. Seems like it’s much easier to hit in day games as wind will often pick up throughout the day.

Grod’s performance to date might be the biggest disappointment of the year. I did not see this coming. It’s been frustrating to watch unfold. Hope he can continue to push through the adversity.

He is definitely super fast. I’m not worried about him being a slap hitter, it’s just something I’ve noticed. Maybe it speaks more to his speed & hustle than anything else.

Im beginning to wonder if GRod might be the answer to the pen. Let him come in as a power 2 or 3 inning guy and learn how to get MLB guys out while saving the pen & starters.
