Your correct. I looked at wrong column for 86/87.
Thats fair.
Suppose not.
I would say a tall lefty who can spin it like Povich and who had shown dominant stuff would be a reasonable guy to dream on.
I watched him catch Graysons last game. He did not inspire confidence. I’ve always been a believer of the cliche that a good catcher goes unnoticed. In the game I saw (granted 1 game so gonna give him a pass) there were a lot of “he should have made that play” moments. Will be watching his next game with a keen eye.
Randy Johnson went 1.39 5.72/9 as a 25 yo in AAA. Trimmed it to 1.22 4.5/9 as a 26 yo before his MLB promotion.
Not suggesting likely but by no means outside the realm of possibility. How likely is it to get a true ace regardless?
Johnson’s best MiLB k/9 rate was 8.8k/9.
I’m perplexed by the whole thing. It’s just very peculiar. In my experience with baseball, when a player is under performing their talent level by a significant degree there is more often than not something wrong physically. Again, pure speculation. Maybe we get some more insights as to what’s going on.
Pure speculation, but I have to believe he is dealing with some type of serious physical ailment. Very strange to see that much of a velo drop. I hope he can get right, he’s a talented kid.
Oh boy. I said to myself before the year began, that if Watkins pitched an inning this year for us we’d likely miss the playoffs. Good grief. No bueno.
The more ABs I see the more I like him. He can swing it and brings a lot of tools/skills to the table. He’s playing with a lot of confidence right now. He’s fun to watch.
With 2 hits last night Young’s OPS is at .921 since 5/14. A solid month of production. 22 ks & 14 BBs in 109 ABs. Will be curious to see what he does in his next 100 ABs.
1. GRod to be a stud
2. DL Hall to find his way
3. Cowser, Westburg, Kjerstad, replace McKenna, Frazier, Mountcastle
4. Stud back of the bullpen pick up
It was painful watching Godoy catch GROd today. He’s an awful receiver.
A good combo of defense and offense in the group. Pretty good looking catching pipeline.
Complete turn around. It’s like he can’t miss the strike zone in 3rd-5th. Has dropped in a couple high curve balls for an easy strike. He made a big adjustmenT mid game, good to see.
