  1. I made some comments about a few boneheaded plays I’ve seen him make over the last couple years and have been labeled a Stowers hater.  I’m actually a big fan.  I Think  he’s a fine defender, though he makes me a little nervous.  I’ve seen him play solid CF in Norfolk.  He has a cannon that is accurate, runs pretty well for a big guy, and covers a good bit of ground.  Not always the best routes.  Have seen a few plays where it looked like he wasn’t focused/was checked  out a bit - but you never completely know whats he ping on.  All in all would be an upgrade over Santander in RF.  I think Hays still has a leg up on him.  I think he’s gonna start pushing Tony for ABs.

    It’s not that it’s because it’s what I want. That’s a f*cking stupid thing to say.

It’s  wrong because they aren’t playing their best players.

Coloumbe and Cano have been nothing until this year. No one on this site felt they would do anything this year but they have been incredible. I’m not saying to bench them just because I didn’t think anything of them or because they have no track record.  I’m not calling for them to bench Mateo, another guy I haven’t been totally enamored by.

Im calling for them to either bench  or take at bats away from players who are either hurting the team at the plate, in the field or both.

We sit here almost everyday and pat Elias on the back for building a great farm system and we love the young talent that he has acquired and we see all of these guys ready to come up and play and you think it’s crazy to want that to happen?

And these aren’t thoughts that are based on a SSS of this year. These are the same thoughts I had in December.

We agree that things will take care of themselves and yea, they have a great record Vs an easy schedule.  Again, maybe with these moves, maybe they have 2-4 more wins?

Last year, the dodgers were one of the best teams in baseball history. They didn’t win the title and felt they needed to make changes despite being one of the best regular season teams ever. Were they wrong for that?  Should they have returned the exact same team? Or should teams, even ones playing well, always look to improve?  Should teams always look to bring in better talent?

If Stowers was up all Year & McKenna was down we’d have at least 1 more W :)

  3. 19-9 on April for best start in franchise history.  Someone is pulling the right levers.  Sure it could all come crumbling down, but for now hard to argue with the team management right now.  Stowers is up and is having success. Ortiz got a taste of MLB.  Frazier & Santander are on notice.   No doubt in my mind Stowers, Ortiz, & one of Westburg/Cowser will be everyday fixtures in the lineup in the near future.

Givens looked pretty good in his debut yesterday wit the Baysox. One thing I didn't realize was how much weight Givens has put on since he was with the Orioles. The announcer said he's 6-foot, 250 pounds. Maybe that's part of his knee issues?

Either way, he looked pretty good overall and it would not be surprising if the Orioles decided to bring him up soon.

250 is waaaay too much weight for him.  Wow - that would most def affect his knees.

Some day in the future when the Os win the WS and the fans rush the field via the bullpen gate, we can fully expect Hodo to attempt to hold them off eventually failing while shouting Hodo over and over again.

It’s all I can think of when I see his name/

    I'm not sure I follow?

I was just showing that Frazier is not getting sporadic playing time.

Fair, I should have just said Vavra & not Vavra/Frazier.

Perhaps they think they increase his trade value by having him put up numbers in AAA. I still think it’s a fielding thing but does seem better than Vavra

He didn’t hit for power in ST, he struggled in limited PA in MLB, and struggle his first 30 ABs in AAA this year.  I think it’s quite obvious they have been working with him on some specific items before letting him go.

I refuse to believe that the ME-Sig-Bot that drafts and develops so well, thinks Vavra/Frazier are better in RF than Stowers. I put his lack of playing time on Hyde. Stowers should be here over O'Hearn, but that could be a Sig-Bot choice for the 26th man given that Hyde wasn't playing him.

I think their “bot” points to Vavra/Frazier  doing better with fewer/more sporadic ABs.

They don't want to give him everyday AB's yet in the majors and would rather have him getting everday AB's in the minors until an opportunity (Hays or Santander injury) comes about.     That doesn't mean they have given up on him.

It would be curious to get insight into how he’s dealing with the situation.  Very tough place to be as a young player trying to make your way in the game.  Hope h remains steadfast and kills it when he gets his shot.

55 Plate Appearances to those results I posted above.

Remove the last week and the run the numbers again.  He was struggling until about the 20th and then caught fire.  I do expect him to keep it up.  He’s on a torrid 15-20 ABs heater.

It’s fascinating how these big money teams just are not prepared depth wise. Betts playing SS in LA. This horrific Yankees OF. Mets starting pitchers with some issues. The lineups for some of these teams really aren’t all that imposing. We complain all the time about holes in the lineup, but our cleanup hitter isn’t Willie Calhoun FFS. Imagine the comments here if Tommy Pham and Mark Canha were getting regular at bats. That’s the Mets 6-7 hitters with a 300M dollar payroll. Give me Urias-McCann or pretty much any other combo we’ve seen this year over that.

One thing watching more baseball so far this year has shown me is that the Os are in better overall shape than we probably perceive. Plenty of holes on plenty of good teams.

Except the Rays. That team is perfect. LOL.

Creating extreme redundancy in a sport in which you play 162 games over an 8 months period is prudent.

When have the Orioles had to trade someone because of too much talent at the position?  Brian Roberts Jerry Hairston?  Its a great problem to have.

To throw my 2 cents.  I say trade him.   However his speed is the asset that we cant replace so that might not be a great idea.  If the Orioles have a real shot at the post season keeping Mateo might be the wisest thing.

Curt Schiling & Pete Harnish had no place in our MLB rotation.
