Super-polished NCAA bats ought to beat the 40-man requirement timeline though - I don't feel that is an obstacle whenever Elias is ready to roll out another blue chip.
I agree he should, but will he. I’m still a believer that they are milking theses guys to make their asset valuation rise vs. best option for win now. Would like to be wrong.

Pretty much everyone works hard.
Pure talent is pure talent.
Talent wins out more often than not.
No doubt. That’s what’s crazy - the talent > 1 year experience. That excites me and didn’t see it coming. Hard work only helps you reach your own ceiling. Talent will always trump.
Just pointing out that through lense of org. Ortiz &. Cowser have priority over Wburg & Stowers. I was very high on both guys going into year and looks like they got leap frogged.

I've always thought Cowser had a much better chance to help the Orioles than Stowers. I'd let him stay there until June. He should start in left and play just about every day if he does move up.
He’s not on the 40 man so gonna be tough to jump guys in front. I also think he’s the long term LF.

Cowser/Ortiz consistently batting ahead of Stowers/Westburg. They getting priority? Pretty crazy the new guys are stealing the show from the AAA vets.

McKenna caught it!

Lotta movement on his pitches

Cano seems to field his position pretty well for his size.
Accept his very first appearance when he *almost launched a ball into CF and potentially completely changing the fabric of time and destroying his current run.

That slow motion replay of that pitch was crazy. That ball ran like crazy.
Looks like his fingers are super long and turned that ball over like crazy.

Maybe cursed something filthy in Spanish that the ump actually understood?
I think they should do how they do in Spain’s Division de honor de Beisbol and give out yellow cards first then red. Two yellows auto red & miss next game.

Really fearing the return to the mean this pitching hot streak is going to generate.

In college coach calls and it goes to a watch thing that everyone can wear.

I've never tried to be honest with you.
I never could stand them.
Make the minimum pay $100k and compete with other sports for talent. Promote that talent for people to see.

Been saying for years MLB has to find a way to market the minor league games and find ways to get dynamic players into the sport. They are finally taking baby steps.

I finally followed the directions and was able to use BaseballSavant AAA Statcast data last night. It was actually fun to watch a game with the data on the side. Left pleasantly surprised and enthused about Maverick Handley having one of the top EV's. Tides had 4 of top 5: Cowser 1st at 109.9, Stowers 3rd at 108.7, Ortiz 4th at 108.1 and Handley 5th at 107.9. Seems like the time spent at Driveline is showing it's dividends in the metrics and hopefully will carry over to the SLG sooner than later. I did hear on the broadcast last night that Nashville had/has the lowest ERA in league. So I expect all the boys numbers to improve this week.
The other thing I had to check on Handley progression, is the consistency. This has been called out before but as the numbers aren't flashy it is hard to notice.
Handley has lowered is K rate and increased his BB rate the higher he goes. His AVG, OBP, and WRC continues to rise every level. I hear that Kolozsvary is a quality guy but I don't know what the O's see in his value as his numbers decline year over year since moving from AA to AAA. At least his wRC+ isn't negative anymore. Bemboom hasn't played but the 1 game for O's so can't tell what he is/isn't going to do.
I see no reason to take ABs away from Handley splitting time with Bemboom. Perhaps Bemboom does get 2 games a week and 1 at DH? Gotta have that 1 guy getting paid as the JIC. Maybe that is Kolo's roll (or Bemboom) as I don't see the O's trying to develop their bats at this point.

Just here for the Stanford Cardinal content and lots of folks talking about Stowers... so I'll keep my focus on my son's favorite and now mine too. If Handley doesn't get his shot with the O's I think he will be helping someone next year.
Great post! As you mentioned and noted above, he just steadily improves as he moves forward. What's not to like about that? He's been fun to follow. Good ABs with some sleeper pop for a C.

I've had a soft spot for this guy for a couple seasons. Sounds like an all-around good guy. Been waiting for a little power in his stroke and little more consistency with the glove. He continues to make steps.

HR #1 today - Stowers is on the board. Bet a bunch are gonna come in next week.

It’s a travesty it’s promoted so carelessly. It’s awful that they are targeting young kids with these “fake money” sites to create a habit to exploit. Pretty rotten if you ask me. I think you are actually in the majority if I had to guess (on this site).

May would rock.
How about Pepiot?
Think you have to give up some more. He has ~1 year of service time vs. ~3years May.

This thread was specifically about the Dodgers. Who fits that profile on their team? Urias? Not a chance Mateo is enough. Kershaw? Too old. May? Probably untouchable (as he should be). Gonsolin? Injured and worth more because he's under team control for awhile. Syndergaard? Not really an upgrade.
I think a deal centered around May/Mateo would get my attention.

I don't think the trades he has made thus far prove your point.
He's yet to pull the trigger on a significant trade.
Would you consider Bradish deal significant? I think it's trending to that territory. Lopez trade has potential to as well. But you statement remains correct as of today.
