  1. I turned the radio off when they announced the minor leaguer was on the game.  Why not leave Cano in? Why not go to someone who can get major leaguers out. What a waste of a potential W. Gotta strike when you have a chance.  Ridiculous

Sure, Yount shifted when he was no longer the best option at SS. If, for instance, Joey Ortiz is the best SS, then so be it. Move Mateo then. But for now, I don’t think moving those guys around is wise. Development is one thing, but not at MLB level. Not guys who are at the top of the food chain.

That’s true and makes sense.  Like I said, it’s just an opinion and I very likely could be way off base.

Agree that moving Mateo off SS right now would be a tough hole to fill.  He’s playing at an elite level.  Agree that he shouldn’t be moved unless someone can come darn close to filing that hole in his absence.

I get that the Orioles don't really rate Stower's OF defense that highly, and they don't think he can play LF at Camden Yards

I also get that the Orioles really value positional flexibility (and a guy like Vavra can play more positions if they need him to)

Here's what I don't get, if the Orioles don't think Stowers can play OF other then RF...why aren't they giving him positional flexibility by giving him work at 1b.

I think it's because he can throw a ball 95+ and that skill would be wasted at 1B.  Believe they are grooming him to take over RF duties.  He just has to go through 'Orioles Finishing School' first.  That and find some value in a Santander trade.

Henderson literally started the game winning rally with a walk, he isn't going down and it should start being asked if Mullins isn't going to get his on base % up, then why not have Henderson leading off, ill take Hendersons walks in front of Adley. With that said im only worried about Santander, who looks disinterested on top of struggling.

If he was expanding the zone, I'd be worried.  Pitchers know they will have to bring it into the zone and cannot get him to chase.  He will get the stroke back, and when he does it's going to be fun to watch.

    Santander looks banged up.

6 BB and 16 K.    Strikeouts are high but he’s doing well.   Unfortunately, I saw him misjudge a liner over his head in CF and his swing still looks funky.   Results matter though.

Thanks.  Fixed :) He has a really weird swing.  Kinda like a Tasmanian devil spinning himself into the ground.  Looks like the world's biggest roll over but somehow keeps bat going through the zone.

This thought has cross my mind too. You never saw that back in the day. Now even unknown guys are doing it.

I remember being impressed with the Braves closer Mark Wholers just because he threw 97-98 during their 1990s World Series run.

If you think it’s crazy what American Parents are doing with their kids travel ball, plus hitting coach, plus cross for mornings, playing 80 games a year and for multiple team, let me tell you a little something about the kids in Cuba, Ven, DR, and PR.  Kids 9+ are playing baseball 3-4 hrs a day, climbing monkey bars & rope to get arms strong and flipping the biggest tires they can get their hands on to build leg strength.   It’s an obsession, privilege to work with the gen above them who have made it, and a pride like you’ve never seen.

Don’t think Wholers was doing that at 10y/o.

Henderson has to realize he's not in the minors anymore and is not getting graded on "good takes". Gotta start being more aggressive and fight off those close pitches with two strikes.

He is absolutely being graded on his swing decisions.

I think the modern radar gun is juiced.  You rarely saw 100 in the old days.  Now its everywhere.  I doubt they really throw harder.  I think the new guns are calibrated different.

All guys playing in league have been training extensively since they were 10.  League avg.  velo has been increasing every year for decades.  100 is the new 90.

It's obvious you were hyped into being a big Gunnar fan, and I feel your pain at how he's been playing.  All I can say after watching him for the past couple of years is that it's only a matter of time.  He will find it.  He's just that good.

    Yep. He will hit.
