  1. Off-season isn’t over yet, they could still sign Nelson Cruz! My dream off-season was/is: 1- extend Adley 2- acquire one “exciting” pitcher 3-acquire an Upgraded innings eater 4-acquire an OF thumper who could play 1B 5-make a bunch of benign moves that sends the OH into a frenzy for the sheer entertainment value
  2. Not gonna lie, Norfolk is gonna be a juggernaut this year. Just wait until the boys from Bowie come up. International League Champs 2023!
  3. Stowers made some goofy plays in Norfolk last year. If they value D as high as it seems he could be odd man out. Westburg better take note and work his tail off on his defensive game.
  4. O’Hearn thread page count > Hours O’Hearn was in the organization
  5. It’s official, Elias and Sig are trolling the hangout.
  6. I'm going out on a limb and saying they trade for a pitcher. Would not be surprised with an additional position player signing/trade as well.
  7. Just an assumption of 5 years based on past GM contracts. Kind of assume this is his last year under contract. Just a gut feeling.
  8. If they throw out a complete garbage bunch of acquisitions and next year is a retread of 2022, I think it's safe to assume two things: 1. Absolutely nothing is going to happen with this franchise until Peter dies 2. Elias is not going to be here very long
  9. For the record I hate the move. I'm confused by the moved. I'm trying to figure out why in the world he would sign him. If he is on the roster on Opening Day I might vomit.
  10. Curious on this last part. I admittedly know very little about putting a roster together and value your opinion. If a team with a small budget (assuming it’s status quote and we don’t spend much) has to find room in the margins, why not try and “stack” your AAA team? I’m not saying spend an insane amount, but why not spend say 2.5MM (about half of 1 WAR - and this is a pure hypothetical talking out loud thing here) and try to turn that in to 1 WAR. Inevitably there is going to be injury and things happen. Why not pick out 3-4 guys you think you can get & protect, put them in your program, stash them in AAA and see if you can strike lightening in a bottle, as a secondary insurance plan? Again, just thinking out loud. Curious if you think it’s as simple as that $$ could be spent more effectively somewhere else.
  11. Looks like he got a little tired from Pre ASB 2021 to Pre ASB 2022 also. I think his ship has sailed. He was a fantastic O. Would hate for him to come back, flop, and tarnish that reputation.
  12. Figured the site could use a thread with some brevity before all our heads explode
  13. 1B Mountcastle (29) UTL Westburg (9) 2B Frazier (5) UTL Urias (15) SS Mateo (15) 3B Henderson (19) C Rutschman (20) C McCann (5) LF Hays (22) CF Mullins (19) RF Santander (29) 4th OF McKenna (5) DH Stowers (10) Total = 202 is my guess
  14. Yes - was hesitant on putting that in there. Pure sarcasm.
  15. I’m going to go through my OD 26 and make my best guess as to # of HRs hit from that roster spot and come up with an educated guess. My gut says we can expect some more from improvement, but at first glance we will lose quite a bit from a few guess not on the roster and there is also bound to be some regression.
  16. With the Power bats of O'Hearn, McCann and Frazier added in the last couple weeks (sarcasm , it got me thinking of how many HRs we might expect next year. Last year the Orioles hit 171 home runs tied with the Met's for dead middle of the pack. For context Yankees lead with 254 and Tigers finished at bottom with 110. Do you think we will hit more than 171 HRs in 2023? What's your best guess at how many we will hit? Here are your 2022 Orioles contributors: Santander 33 Mountcastle 22 Urias 16 Hays 16 Mullins 16 Rutschman 13 Odor 13 Mateo 13 Mancini 10 Chirinos 4 Henderson 4 Stowers 3 Nevin 2 McKenna 2 Vavra/Benboom/Aguilar/Arau/ 1 each
  17. I think they still acquire another player. I think Vavra goes to AAA and is depth and woks on his defense.
  18. I love the idea of playing Westburg all over the IF. I think there is a lot of value in a player that is able to do that. I know some people hate the idea and want them to specialize, but I think long term adding skills can be nothing but a good thing. It slows the development at each individual position, no doubt. But, if a guy can hit and you have solid but not + at the various positions, then having a guy with a big stick that can fill in all over would be fantastic. Mountcastle 1B, Frazier 2b, Gunnar ss, Urias 3b & Westburg super sub. With all that said I’m going to be shocked if O’Hearn is on the opening day roster. I hope/imagine he is an expensive AAA reclamation project that kicks Nottingham (who has been playing 1B at Norfolk) off first.
  19. I just keep telling myself how much I hated the Lyles signing last year. Not defending the moves, merely trying to stay sane and make it to ST.
  20. I understand that it doesn’t include strikeouts. The decision piece comes with the theory that your gonna hit balls harder that are in your specific sweet spot vs. balls that are not there, so making a decision whether or not to swing also directly effects the outcome of the balls that are hit.
  21. Essentially the only stat all the performance improvement organizations care about. Hit ball as hard as possible and often as possible and good things happen. 1. Make good decision 2. Make good swing(smash factor) 3. hit the ball hard - all wrapped up into one stat.
  22. I lived in Valencia ,Spain from 2001-2005 re: avatar. My dads grandfather moved to Hells Kitchen from Durrow, Ireland in 1921. Emmett(my middle name) is a family name that’s been passed down through the generations.
  23. This is the year wins and loses count! In Norfolk.
