  1. This has been litigated millions of times, but that combination of moves (plus others) effectively added half a decade to any hope of the Orioles fielding a competitive team. And has potentially resulted in a long-term reluctance for the franchise to ever seriously commit to spending again (I guess more of a wait and see there, though.) Just such mind-bogglingly bad decision making--at the time and, especially, with hindsight.
  2. Totally. Not complaining. But also not going to pretend I knew anything about these kids (after Jackson) before reading their scouting reports as they were drafted. I'll take athletes over Hogoods and DJ Stewarts, for sure.
  3. Starting to notice a lot of similar adjectives tossed around when it comes to Elias-era position player picks.
  4. When the GM job opens up, I'll write you a letter of recommendation. Also, I hope the white party was a grand ol' time.
  5. This pick, as well of the previous one, are reminiscent of a Ravens draft in a lot of ways.
  6. I know we shouldn't talk politics on this board, but please don't speak about the 22nd president like that. Thanks.
  7. I'm not going to pretend I've heard of this kid until a few minutes ago, but I wonder if that's a typo. Reading the scouting report as a whole, it almost seems like they meant below-average contact skills?
  8. Maybe this is orange-tinted glasses, but I like that the org is betting on themselves to fix someone who seems like a flawed-but-toolsy athlete.
  9. Yeah, maybe. But also having a glut of highly rated middle infield prospects makes it easy to swing a trade for a TOR starter.
  10. Not trying to give you a hard time, but there is also a world where they think he's the best prospect and that they can save some money. I'm not making that argument, per se, but the two possibilities aren't necessarily mutually exclusive from the perspective of the Orioles.
  11. The poster who went off the rails about Hayden Penn's name is fist pumping the air in joy right now. And, hell, I am too.
  12. If the Orioles save a bit of money here and then spend bank for the rest of the draft, is there a world where you like this pick more than going with Jones?
  13. Oh I know. Just a dumb joke from someone who has been to many a mediocre Fed Hill bar.
  14. Not matter what happens, at the very least, this is compelling.
  15. The Orioles draft war room looks like a mediocre bar in Fed Hill.
  16. Great question. I cannot imagine there many folks frothing at the mouth to bet on the MLB draft but you never know.
  17. Jackson just went from +1100 to +600, so while I'm still skeptical that bookmakers have the inside scoop, it's interesting to say the least.
  18. I'll be really curious to see if there is a massive swing a couple minutes before 7:00 p.m.
  19. You're not wrong, but when you see the interest the youths have in the draft day/tunnel fashion of NBA players, they're probably just trying to cash in on that.
