I thought he was a loser before the allegations, and I'd rather the Orioles not enter a Josh Lueke-esque situation by signing him. That being said, purely based off schadenfreude, I am curious regarding reports of him being bad at baseball.
The last time we signed Rich Hill, I head the news on the radio right as I turned onto Rich Hill Road in Towson. Sorry I didn't find a Justin Verlander Avenue earlier this offseason.
Most offseason rumors from even the most trusted sources are either wrong or bluffs from teams/agents. I think we should be careful about posting claims from sub-10k follower, anonymous accounts with no track record named "Mr. Beisbol von Hotstove" and the like. That is, unless they're saying we're offering a MOO bat a WOW offer at the halftime of a Ravens game.
You're not wrong! And, again, I'm not saying the debate itself has no merit. However, I just can't help but laugh about the intensity of said debate. But, that's also why I love this place. * smashes the refresh button *
I think Henderson will be very good, and I would be happy to have him locked up long term, but this is such a funny debate to be having so vociferously after his first three major league games.
I was at Manny's first game, which was awesome. He'll always be a favorite player of mine. That being said, Henderson's approach at the plate is eons better than Machado's was when was first called up.
Nothing is certain when it comes to pitchers, but I believe at least one of Kremer/Bradish/Wells will be a strong starter on the next Orioles playoff team (2022 excluded, fingers crossed). That being said, I doubt any of them ever receives a Cy Young vote
Beyond travel, as I noted above, a lot individuals/families have smaller entertainment budgets due to the current economic environment. For a holiday weekend, I'm sure that budget was allocated well-before anyone knew the Orioles would be worth watching in September.
I don't think this is a thread about shaming people that do or don't go to games. I think it's just interesting to track attendance in general—especially since this team was expected to be very poor and is, instead, in a pennant race.
