  1. Yankee stadium has less ground to cover in RF than LF
  2. I went with 66 to 70 because I am an OPTIMIST. Just not OPTIMISTIC ENOUGH to go above that.
  3. Another Chris Davis Thread, REALLY. Do we need a new one every week????
  4. This is where many seem to get lost. Just like actresses and actors, ballplayers need to make there way into the "STAR ROLE".
  5. SSS, Service Time, Defensive Metrics, etc...

  8. I voted under for the reason that there will be games he does not qualify for the win because he was pulled early because of pitch count.
  9. Data collected on these players and what is needed to correct some flaws is given to the players through the proper channels. What the player does with it or is receptive to will be telling as to who is kept and who is released. In the end, the players need to believe in "THE PROCESS" if they do not then "THE PROCESS" will get rid of them.
  10. In the Ninth inning, with two runners on base, both Adam Jones and Nick Markakis have ONE Career Homerun. Nicks was a walk off, Adams was not. Nicks was this year, Adams was in 2014
  11. It's the Red Soxs and Dodgers, I could care less. So to me ,your failure was the first 16 innings also.
  12. Nick Markakis Innings 7 thru 9 280/354/408/762 Adam Jones Innings 7 thru 9 258/276/405/701 I would take Nick Markakis
  13. Its the Dodgers and Red Soxs, just get it over with.
  14. I wonder if the "Curbing" of Manny is what helped along the "Losing Of The Club House" that many said happened to Buck.
  15. The 2021 and 2022 Arbitration scenario cares as to when Hays and Diaz make an appearance on the Twenty-Five Man Roster. Now if you hold them back until May 15th or June 01 no arguments. Why start the clock too early???
  16. This may help. http://athletewealth.com/howmlbsigningbonusistaxed/
  17. I do not have the expertise to know how the Income Tax structure within Maryland works. I do know that in Pennsylvania and New York the Income Tax paid in one state off sets what you owe in the other. NY is slightly higher than Pa so if you live in Pa, work in NY, your tax in pa off-sets what is owed in NY. You just owe NY the difference.
  18. Is the signing bonus INCOME??? There in lies the answer.
  19. This discussion of the merits of each city seems to also not point out a difference in the INCOME TAX structure of the differing states. One would need to make more $$$ to off-set the higher tax from one state to the other. Maryland would have a 5.75% Income Tax as opposed to a ZERO Income Tax in Florida. For every $1,000 in salary in Florida , Maryland would have to pay another $60.00 to off-set the income Tax. I also would need to add the Baltimore City Income Tax of $32.00 per $1,000. That is a loss of near 10% if signing with the Orioles. I also believe that the older brother (Victor Victor) would like to be on the Forty Man Roster when signed so as to assure his chances to be on the Twenty-Five permanently or a free agent sooner. If within three years he uses up his Options, all the better.
  20. I vote that if you are paying him, play him. For no other reason than to keep him around the length of the contract so when the Orioles become a faint hope in 2021 his play/contract is a constant reminder of "WHY YOU NEVER GIVE MORE THAN A THREE YEAR CONTRACT TO ANYONE."
  21. Per Baseball-Reference: 1955 Baltimore Orioles AL 54 Batters/Players 2013 Baltimore Orioles AL East 52 Batters/Players 2012 Baltimore Orioles AL East 52 Batters/Players 1951 St. Louis Browns AL 52 Batters/Players
  22. This year plus FOUR more. Belle had two years active with three years inactive. Belle did not talk to reporters, Davis spews forth drivel Belle could be put on the Sixty to free up a spot during the season, Davis eats up a roster spot 24/7/365 Belle was the worst contract ever signed by the Orioles, Davis will become that in time.
  23. This is why I stated in the earlier post that the Orioles need to go forward with the concept that the Active Roster is set at 24 PLUS CHRIS DAVIS and the winter 40 Man ROSTER is set at 39 Players plus Chris Davis.
  24. To me it has less to do with the Money which is/was a sunk cost when he was signed but the roster spot because of his lack of ownership for how bad he is playing. Belle played two years of a five year deal and cost the Orioles the options of signing/trading for the fortieth spot on the roster all three of his winters here just to save the money of the contract through insurance. He also sued the Orioles for Meal Money for the three years he was DL'd and sitting home. So no, the Orioles did not get Their money ALL back from the contract but a prorated percentage that was insurance covered and lost out on the potential of three added players to the roster.
  25. This is almost the same as when the Orioles gave a LARGE CONTRACT to Albert Belle and had to carry him on the 40 Man Roster ALL WINTER so as to have the INSURANCE pay part of his SALARY when he was placed on the 60 DAY DL as soon as possible in the Spring. They were working with a 39 Man Roster each and every winter. This caused several possible moves to NOT be made during the winter as a roster spot was bring used for Albert Belle. We need to face the fact that the Orioles for the remainder of his (Chris Davis) contract the Orioles are working with a 24 Man Active Roster and a 39 Man Roster.
