  1. I didn't think so. It is just odd that you would agree with that poster ?
  2. Most of the shifts still have two fielders on each side of 2nd. One may be an infielder and the other an Outfielder but there they are.
  3. Are you offended when reminded that the Orioles had won and The NYY lost??? Probably just don't care.
  4. Tate has had his Options Clock ticking since he was placed on the Forty. He will have used an option Year in 2019 with just two remaining. His clock as far as service time can be manipulated by being Yo-yoed on the Norfolk Shuttle and not allowed to gather much service time. If they are on the Forty, the clock is ticking.
  5. The Shift and Chris Davis's inability to get hits because of it and his inability to adjust to it all go hand in hand. IMO.
  6. Just wanted to be sure. Some on here would rather 1:1than a yearly improvement in W/L.
  7. They gave us fire, accidentally cooked raw meat, and togas made of animal skin. Why should they feel slighted when I mention that they even did a little thinking.
  8. Why??? Would you also make certain pitches illegal since they get an out when they are thrown properly??? Are you for doing away with Pitch Framing?? Are you for not allowing more than two pitchers in a game??? Do you think Switch Hitting should be banned?? They shifted against Ted Williams and he still made the "HALL". It is up tho the Neanderthal Thinking one style hitting players to adjust not to legislate against it.
  9. With any pitcher, how would you find out if they can pitch in High Leverage or Low leverage without doing so? The Orioles have had the least amount of High Leverage plate appearances against of any team in the AL. If they can not hold their water in Baltimore than doubtful they can hold it anywhere else. I understand that this year plenty of players are being thrown directly into the fire but that will either make them better or show what they need to work on to make it in the show.
  10. Pitchers ar supposed to throw strikes and get outs not walk people and give up hits. That is their roles as pitchers. When/where they are used, its is still their responsibility to throw strikes and get outs.
  11. Years ago all most questionable pitchers that were called up started in the Bullpen. Once the gained the trust of management team they were moved forward. The elite starters in AAA and AA were brought forward as starters.
  12. At Baseball Reference the have OPS for pitchers. For each pitcher I compare to Team Average and League Average OPS to see where each individual pitcher resides.
  13. I have looked at some/most of the new terminology and find that BA/OBP/SLG = OPS is telling on several fronts. BA= Batting Average which is quite traditional and easy to understand OBP = On Base Percentage This has become another NORMAL in analytics Hit, Walks and Hit by Pitch treated equally. Your better hitters Batting Average wise should have an On Base Percentage .100 points higher than BA. This is telling of the amount of walks they get, which also shows they know the strike zone. SLG = Slugging is the total of the extra base hits. Total Bases as they get added up and divided by At Bats That gives the On Base Plus Slugging figure or OPS. Traditional an OPS above .800 was considered good. 1.000 was ALL-Star Caliber, .650 OPS is bad or replacement level. You can scan the Home runs, Walks, Hits, extra base hits to see how the different elements were used to get the OPS.
  14. I was looking for this info, Thanks for posting. The other part is that any "Buy Out" that would happen would include this deferred amount that had already been "Set Aside", I believe. So that is a sunk cost also.
  15. Expansion and the Draft did more to bring the Yankees in check. Expansion was immediate. 16 teams in 1960 18 teams in 1961 20 teams in 1962 24 Teams in 1969
  16. Given that most Orioles have no "Track Record" it would seem that pitchers would need to earn rotation spots and then strive to keep them. Eshelman had earned another start but since it isn't needed until after the all-star his twenty-five spot is needed by others.
  17. The Baltimore Orioles will give Chris Davis 15 deferred payments, $3.5 million annually in 2023 through 2032 and $1.4 million annually in 2033 through 2037.
  18. Probably just call him Wojo.
  19. 3 more years after this one. 2022 will be the last of it. Hopefully before that.
  20. according to Hyde from Roch's Blog Hyde said Wojciechowski, who’s out of minor league options, is staying in the rotation. “After the break, we’ll pencil him in there,” Hyde said.
  21. I think that this type of talk needs to wait until the end of August. So much can happen between now and then that the cart should stay behind the horse.

    Uh-Oh

CERA makes it a Sisco game Pedro Severino 7 Games 21.2 Innings 9.14 ERA Chance Sisco 2 Games 11.0 Innings 4.91 ERA Jesus Sucre 2 Games 4.1 Innings 12.08 ERA Austin Wynns 4 Games 8.1 Innings 5.40 ERA
  23. You do know that John Means was coming off the IL to make this last start. He went on the IL on June 20th with a STRAINED LEFT SHOULDER. I think his first start back went well and he had an INNINGS WATCH on him. We also do not know if his other short starts were for the same reasoning. He also had only pitched 160 Innings last year so he is probably limited to 180 innings this year. 180 divided by 30 starts is equal to 6 innings per start.
  24. If Sisco had caught as many innings with BAD PITCHERS on the mound maybe, just maybe his numbers would also look bad. Just how many innings did Sisco catch from Straily, Castro, Wortherspoon, and Ortiz to skew his supposed better numbers??? You cherry pick your numbers and I will cherry pick mine.
