I also wish that some posters would actually give out Names of players that are to be placed on the Forty/Twenty-Five to start another round of revolving door/shuttle. If a player has shown improvement over the season then they should not be classified as the worst on the team. Those that have regressed on the other hand, are working there way up the list of the worst. The main reason players are dumped has primarily to do with the limits of the Forty Man Roster and the limits placed on the Twenty-Five. You need players that are able to be optioned, you need players to fill spots for those on the IL, you need players to be protected from the Rule 5.. You act as if the roster on every team has no limits... You act as if all players that are placed on waivers are not wanted by the waiving team when thay may be trying to get them through waivers to be able to get them OFF the Forty bu kept i their system. Using your logic, every player passed over in the first round of the amateur draft were unwanted by all thirty teams.

I was referring to those in the Minors that would have a career altering injury. Why would a team pick them in the Rule 5 Draft??? Why would a team protect them from the Rule 5 Draft???

And not worthy of protection if banned for Fifty Days next season.

The issue I have with the worry over the forty man roster and who to protect in the Rule 5 at this point in the season is that INJURIES and PEDS have come into play every year for all teams. If a player has season ending TJ Surgery or Hip Replacement or first/second time caught with PEDS all the reason to protect or draft these players becomes mute. Ask again after September 30, 2019 and answers would have way more meaning IMO.

When players become a Free Agent, the compensation for a team losing them, the whole idea of "Service Clocks" will all be addressed in a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. This can/could change the entire landscape of the recent Amateur Drafted Players. Teams may not have seven years of control prior to FA. Teams may need to protect players sooner from the Rule 5. Teams may get ZERO compensation for leaving Free Agents.

Asher does not have enough service time to be a Free Agent, He is not Arbitration Eligible until 2021, He has been designated for assignment, cleared and dealt to the Minors before so there is no option there. He is also Out Of Options so ihe needs to remain on the twenty-Five to be retained.

Detroit has a 2wins 1 loss against the orioles. We do play them 4 more times in Detroit in September 13th through 17th. As long as they are within 2 or 3 games we can control a tie with them and have them take the yearly record.
