  1. I feel like today could be Kyle Stowers day.
  2. The SF Giants in 2021 won 78 more games than they did the previous year! Wonder if that is an all time record!!!?!?!
  3. Happy Monday! I got a pretty good feeling about today...........
  4. Another stellar outing tonight. 6 innings. 3 H 0 R 2 BB 7 K's Anyone else ok with the Lopez trade yet?
  5. Finished 1 for 3 with no K's. The stuff of legends. Hope he finishes strong there and is ready for Delmarva next year.
  6. 1 for 1 with a walk and a run scored so far today. (game is in the bottom of the 4th as I type this).
  7. Totally agree with most of this. I do not think we will be the 30th ranked team in payroll for much longer. And there is definitely a correlation between wins and payroll, especially in the regular season. The Dodgers won 8 straight division titles before plummeting all the way to 2nd last year......(despite winning 106!). I don't see us having Dodger-sized payrolls but I see us getting close to that 9th place area that you mentioned. Now will that happen by 2023? Can't say for sure.....that would be a huge shift. We will have to see.
  8. I think we all want to "become" the Baltimore Orioles that win championships. Distinct from the Baltimore Orioles that haven't won a pennant in almost 40 years. You can do it the way the Rays have, the way the Yankees have, the way the Dodgers have........... there are multiple paths to do it. We took Elias away from the Astros..............guess whose blueprint he is trying to follow (or improve on) here? Will people here be ok with that? The Astros have made it to the ALCS for 5 straight years, winning 3 pennants, and 1 World Series. Not saying we are guaranteed to have that level of success at all..............as people say, there is a lot of luck when it comes to success in short series. But I would be..........pretty pleased if we are in that ballpark.
  9. I'm looking through my post for the word "scrub" and I'm not seeing it. Hmmmm. If I'm missing anything let me know. Since mid May or so the Rays have been roughly a .500 team. They aren't bad. They also haven't been their dominant selves either.
  10. I wonder if Georgia Angelos is a Plus member on here or if she is a new member to the board.
  11. Not to be a debbie downer but this strategically chosen sample size includes a lot of games against the Rangers, Cubs, Angels, Rays, Reds, and Pirates. We will see how we do against mostly divisional opponents (not to mention Houston) the rest of the way.
  12. The rumors of Santander taking some throws at first would help to mitigate this concern.........a little bit anyway.
  13. I have a hunch that this thread will have a different tone by Monday. To be clear, this is RAMPANT speculation with not even the tiniest sliver of insider info. But it's a good hunch.
  14. Considering we are currently tied with them for the final playoff spot. Furthermore we are 8-8 vs them so far this season. If we take 2/3 we will ensure we win the tiebreaker if needed. If we lose 2/3 then we ensure we lose it. Hoping the good guys get it done!
  15. How long until we start complaining that he isn't in Baltimore? Maybe September?
  16. Looking on the official orioles site it appears that Head and Bannon were on the 40 at the same time.

    Rylan Bannon 2022

Good luck to him. Heading back to the Dodgers organization. He had a .754 OPS across 78 games at Norfolk this year. No hard feelings........seems like he was just getting surpassed by other prospects here.
  18. Interesting. Guess the Dodgers officially won the Machado trade now!?!?! So the O's tried to sneak Bannon through waivers right? But we didn't know until now? So we were probably trying to clear a roster spot............for.................. ?
  19. Looks like we picked him up off of waivers from Miami back in July. He is a 32 year old RHP with over 440 career innings pitched in the minors. His numbers aren't great with Miami but he pitched pretty well with Tampa in 2021 (35 innings pitched with a WHIP under 1.0).
  20. Probably should have started a thread like this earlier in the season. But it still seemed like a fun idea. Especially since we have at least 3 guys or so close to MLB ready. Not to mention the guys moving between levels. Anyway, Elias seems to prefer to do these on Mondays when all the affiliates are off. Think we might get some today?
  21. In Elias's quote he basically directly said that at the trade deadline it is easier to extract maximum leverage from teams in the playoff hunt who need bullpen help. So it is his belief that bullpen arms have their maximum value at the trade deadline. I guess it makes some sense if you have a team that just thinks they are a bullpen arm or two away from a deep run. In the offseason teams won't have that same feeling of urgency.
  22. There was that one moment in the spring where Jim Palmer just lit Davis up..........questioning his work ethic and commitment. Think it was over the kerfuffle with the hitting coach over the off-season. Also there were multiple times where Davis would get asked about making adjustments to his approach and he would almost always say (paraphrasing) "not interested in making any changes, i got to be successful doing this a certain way........why would I change what made me successful."
  23. I don't know if I've ever mentioned this before..........but I don't want to keep it bottled up anymore. I was a HUGE fan of the Erik Bedard trade.
