  1. I bet the attendance at OPACY went up too!
  2. Yeah i think this quote is noteworthy compared to all of the GM speak we usually get from him in interviews. At this point I do think the odds are in favor of him being on the Opening Day roster. I think Mike wants the extra draft pick (again!). How many years in a row do you guys think we can have a guy finish in the top 2 of the RoY voting? heh
  3. Is Elias the first baseball GM to blame the curvature of the Earth for a playoff series loss?
  4. Quotes are available in Roch's blog: https://www.masnsports.com/blog/elias-1-1 “Those guys did absolutely everything asked of them, which was a lot, and they’re a really special group of guys and they had a great season. Just didn’t have a good outcome in the Division Series. It’s a round bat and a round ball and a round earth that we live in, and sometimes the ball just doesn’t bounce your way. And I think that happened for a lot of our guys.
  5. I think we have to say we expect/hope to get further than in 2023. So that would mean at least a trip to ALCS. I may feel differently though after we see what Elias does in the off-season.
  6. I have to imagine if Peter was against it then John will be as well. This is a team that had the 29th ranked payroll this year and he has warned the fanbase repeatedly that we should not expect to run with the big dogs and if we were to spend much more we would have to seriously increase ticket prices.
  7. I'm not sure I understand why every offseason people keep starting threads like this expecting the O's to dive headfirst into free agency, competing with teams that have $200M payrolls. That's just not happening......possibly ever with the Angelos family as owners. Let's get the payroll at least over 100M before we think that we might even go after the tier 2 guys.
  8. Assuming it's an all-Texas ALCS, I agree. I would probably pull for the Twins over the Rangers though.
  9. Think I would like to alter my answer now.
  10. Update. So FS1 threw a minor wrench into my plans. Fortunately many streaming services offer it, so see if you can get a free trial or something first. If not, i think Sling TV is the best option. You can sign up for your "first month" of either plan (Blue is the one with FS1) for just 20 bucks. So that's what I'm going with for the playoffs.
  11. Yeah it's almost 24 hours to first pitch. Little surprised we haven't heard anything yet about the final roster.
  12. I've been a cord cutter for many years now, haven't really regretted it at all. I have a HD antenna in my attic and will be watching all of the O's playoff games on FOX.
  13. Jones wasn't inducted into the O's hall of fame yet. I'm sure he will be someday. But yea Nick was there to help celebrate Jones for his retirement ceremony/festivities.
  14. Heh, definitely be careful what bar you go into up there then. Red Sox fans are not likely going to be very welcoming.
  15. I can't see them using a postseason roster spot on Felix if they don't see him pitch in a single regular season game the rest of the way.
  16. Mostly agree here. Adley has the 2nd highest OBP on the entire team. Behind Aaron Hicks, the human juggernaut. Top 4 in OPS. If he is one of your best hitters then I think it's rational to think about him in the DH spot on his "off from catching" days.
  17. Tyler Wells was called back up today. We are all good to go now guys. No need to worry!
  18. Yeah I don't care about the dome so much.........my incredulity is more from the standpoint of: When the common consensus seems to be that no one comes to see the Rays at the Trop because of traffic concerns and its poor location relative to where people actually are.............. why are they spending $1.2B to put a new stadium in that same location?
  19. So they are going to build another domed stadium in St. Pete just like the Trop and hope that people choose to come there instead because...........why exactly?
  20. Prices vary from game to game. Depending on the opponent, what day of the week, etc. Everything is digital now through the Ballpark app yeah.
  21. The smallest package you can get for fixed games is for 13 individual games. However they also have something now called "Flex" memberships. Where you just put a big deposit down up front (packages start at $600) and then you can use that money throughout the season to buy tickets. If you don't spend it all though you would lose it.
  22. This actually sounds pretty intriguing to me. Do I dare put down a deposit for 2024 knowing the Orioles don't officially have a home ballpark to play in right now? lol Trying to imagine how that conversation might go........
  23. Some interesting shade thrown at Angelos in that article. Can't say I'm surprised unfortunately.
  24. They were 21-6 in August..........that's pretty good. Not suggesting they are THAT good. Kinda wild that they have lost every series in Sept so far.
  25. Agree that it makes absolutely zero sense for him to be playing catch etc unless the front office things there is a chance he can contribute here in Sept / Oct. Personally, I think those odds must be pretty low. But I am not a doctor. Just hope they don't do anything to put him at further risk if there is almost no chance at him being his old self again this year.
