  1. So what catcher and third baseman upgrades are available for nothing?
  2. I'm firmly in the camp that money not spent today isn't being put away to spend tomorrow.
  3. I don't see the advantage to spending say 30M more in payroll and have the team win 77 games instead of 72 games.
  4. If he can hit 300 with power I'm not concerned about his defense in Left. I think he's already ahead of someone like Reimold.
  5. Right. He doesn't swing at total junk, he swings at pitcher's pitches. He had success with that in the minors so he continued doing it. Other players don't have the bat to ball skills and have had to refine their personal strike zone at an earlier point in their career. The fact that he doesn't just hack at everything is what makes me think a further refinement is possible once he learns what he can and can't drive when facing ML pitching.
  6. I've never said otherwise. You haven't seen my multitude of posts complaining about them not spending on things other than ML payroll?
  7. I think he has a better chance than most since I don't think it was ever a skill he needed to develop in the minors.
  8. You can explain that easily enough. They ramped up payroll to help a contending team in the hopes that attendance would spike. An elderly owner not in the best of health was willing to spend in the hopes of winning a title. A situation that doesn't currently exist. They used the MLBAM tech money.
  9. I will agree with SG that, right now, it doesn't appear that they are trying to compete in 2021.
  10. By SG II do you mean when he rejoined the community after being banned with his original account or just when he came back after being away?
  11. I think the power outage was mostly a result of pitchers attacking him outside the zone and him chasing. He has the ability to make contact with the pitches but he wasn't barreling them, resulting in weak contact.
  12. Depends on what they are and are not spending money on. I'm fine with the low ML payroll for instance.
  13. I don't think it our place to tell someone what their priorities should be.
  14. That's why our front office has all those analysts right? So we don't do things like spend a high draft pick on a kid that had a hot spring and instead use it on someone that had a legitimate breakthrough in a small sample size.
  15. The 2015 Royals would have if the league hadn't changed the vote totals.
  16. I think a number of teams have had some nice success locking up young players, with the key word being young.
  17. I don't think it's the only way for a mid-market team. They can lock up key players early to affordable contracts. A mid-market team can afford a couple sizeable contracts.
  18. Then why did you say "it’s pretty obvious that Mountcastle is not going to succeed anywhere except possibly first base."? That is directly contradictory to what you are saying now.
  19. I stopped following that thread a couple days ago.
  20. Get down with your bad self. I think my question was reasonable.
