  1. Could be Covid concerns. Maybe it's a behavior issue? (PURE SPECULATION) I do think Elias tries to play for margins that just aren't worth the trouble.
  2. I think the potential reward for holding him back as long as he has is very small. I think if you push that back another year it's laughably small and it won't be Elias that gets to reap the reward.
  3. He'll be a 30 year old right handed bat first guy. So very few of them are valuable that it isn't worth playing games for. Call the kid up, let him get a decent paycheck and health insurance. Maybe get a chance at a decent FA deal down the road.
  4. Good chance compared to a normal year. Not a good chance compared to an actually talented team. Right now they have a low single digit chance to make the playoffs, which is a lot better than the zero percent chance they would normally have. But it's still not going to happen.
  5. I know I'd love to pay arb 4 prices for a 30 year old right handed LF/1B/DH.
  6. I don't know, Davis could teach Mountcastle a thing or two about not swinging at pitches.
  7. I'm sure they don't want to bring him up while Davis is injured and not playing.
  8. Those early bird specials are worth it!
  9. I don't see how he makes sense. The Marlins aren't going to cut bait on a guy they spent five million on. This is Bleier we are talking about, and the Marlins. They aren't contenders and he isn't a valuable piece.
  10. Right? What are you confused about? This isn't a contending team. Trading Bleier doesn't hurt the rebuild. We'll see the return and then we'll know.
  11. It was a professional courtesy. Like when they traded Yaz to the Giants because they needed minor league outfield depth (that worked out well) or when they traded...I'm drawing a blank on the name...the right handed sidearm pitcher to the A's since they already had O'Day. The Marlins need players to fill out a roster.
  12. Yes the Rays mishandled the free baserunner.
  13. He didn't have to try for third. He could have just stayed and they would have had a runner at second and one out. Bad baserunning cost them, not the free runner at second.
  14. Here is a question. Is the fact that Mullins was in the outfield the reason the runner went? Great that he got the out there but his arm isn't suddenly an asset.
  15. Boston doesn't look very good.
  16. I'm just glad Elias and Hyde put such an emphasis on team defense. We've seen it with Severino, and now with Smith.
  17. This is pure supposition on your part.
  18. It's completely a hindsight call. The VAST majority of players that had similar careers up to that point went on to do little else.
  19. More likely the miracle of small sample sizes.
  20. Caught Between Scylla and Charybdis.
  21. At least he isn't reliably poor like most of the pen.
  22. We really aren't sure what he's going to do in the majors. He isn't bust proof.
  23. Nope. Three intentional walks and three pickoffs.
