But then you get to pay more.
Heck you can wait until they are free agents to have as much data as possible like they did with Davis, O'Day, and Trumbo.
The Jones and Markakis deals worked great for the O's. Plenty of teams that locked up good young talent did well. This goes back to the Indian teams of the last millennium. Rays saved a ton on Longoria for example and the Braves are going to make out like bandits.
It has yet to show its business model is profitable. It has raised a great deal of money(90M) and spent a lot of it.
I'm not an expert and I'm not predicting anything but it seems possible.
Very possible. I'm just trying to wrap my head around the repercussions of a hypothetical Athletic collapse. Would be a lot more folks released into the job market than the market could sustain. A lot of really talented folks would be in a bad position.
I was my opinion, I think it very likely that Super 2 will be going away as part of the deal to kill service time manipulation.
I certainly wouldn't plan future moves based on the idea that it will still be around.
I don't recall her work so I'm going to have to disagree with you. I'm talking the type of activity that gets picked up by the internet at large. I don't recall seeing that from the O's last year.
Even if she was highly talented them allowing her to leave and not replacing her with someone of equal worth still shows against them in this case.
BTW she jumped ship to the Athletic. Wow if they crash they are going to take a lot of folks with them.
I don't get this 3 years bit. College Catchers taken in the top 5 have been making the majors within 1-2 years of being drafted.
Posey and Zunio were promoted to the majors the year after they were drafted and Wieters was promoted shortly into his second full year in the minors. Bart made it to AA last season for the Giants.
If it takes until 2022 for Rutschman to make the majors something went wrong.
