  1. I've heard nice things as well but that doesn't mean he's ready to step behind the plate and call games in the majors in 2020. Did he call his own games in college? As far as Baumann and Kremer there is no reason to, and that is the more important part. I wish them the best of course but they are a couple of guys. Odds are good at some point their performance (or roster restraints) will dictate they get sent down. I know you love the idea of breaking the rules and messing with service time but these are two guys that have never sniffed a top 100 prospect list. They will be lucky to have four year careers in ML baseball. Are you going to advocate sending Martin down for a month to get that extra year of former Rule V goodness?
  2. A couple things, you actually think they are going to play service time games with folks like Kremer and Baumann? Or do you have another reason for predicting a month into the season? What makes you think "Adley Rutschten" is capable of calling games at the ML level?
  3. I'm guessing here but I think other teams were willing to sign him to a minor league deal. The O's have to overpay for pitching. But 3M was ridiculous.
  4. Good from 400, great from 800. ?
  5. I'm sure he looked great from 800 feet away.
  6. At least they got around half of that back.
  7. Three million. They gave him three million.
  8. This is why I haven't voted. I'm in favor of locking guys up but the numbers Frobby have thrown out don't support paying these two guys this much. Not enough reward over going year to year. Unless of course you have a very good idea of what the next CBA is going to bring.
  9. In which case we can check off that box. But if an actual scout looked at Tillman and thought he was worth that contract, they need to be fired.
  10. Just make sure whomever scouted his last showcase for the O's has been fired.
  11. I am thinking that the odds of anyone being on the same team they debuted on six years later is poor.
  12. Are you suggesting the O's should sign him?
  13. How can someone who is well below replacement level for his career be a proven asset?
  14. I think that once you get past the income for ownership every dollar spent on free agents is a dollar not spent somewhere else.
  15. Davis doesn't. Factor in cost of living his salary declines. Same with Cobb.
  16. I might be, it's been an easy twenty years since I've opened a phone book.
  17. Hmm One is on the 40 the other isn't. One has spent an entire season at AAA and the other hasn't played past AA. No water will be muddied.
  18. Remember, Mancini was going to be the most improved defensive outfielder in the league in 2018. ?
  19. Using Trout in something like this seems akin to using a cheat code. He might very well end up being the best player of the draft era. I see your post and the only thing I can think to do is to see who else the Pirates drafted in 1985.
