  1. I understand your viewpoint but I don't agree. I have no problems at all churning out quality bullpen pieces no matter the overall state of the team. They are always good trade pieces.
  2. They picked Olson 4th overall. I'm in favor of picking relief profile guys early in the draft. Preferably rounds 4-5 but third would be fine for a guy with the right profile.
  3. On the bright side those forfeited draft picks did free up enough budget for the O's to sign Wieters and Arrieta.
  4. I don't think many folks thought the Twins were the better team.
  5. I think Davis is too happy here to waive his trade protection.
  6. I don't see what relevance a matchup in 2002 has. Yes the numbers are absurd but I don't think it has much meaning.
  7. While I think he's a bit overrated I think he's a solid choice if a team wants an old school presence. Mets have that former agent as a GM, maybe Buck thinks he can maneuver himself into personnel decisions?
  8. Not at all surprised to hear he would be interested in going back to NY.
  9. I disagree. Obviously folks would have noted player X's performance and some complaining would have taken place but I think his name has ramped things up to some extent.
  10. It feels like Wells has been around forever.
  11. Arrieta had at least shown potential. Yaz is about as far out of left field as you can get.
  12. But it would only be one thread. ? Baby Yaz gets more virtual ink than Justin Turner and Jayson Werth did combined.
  13. I'm just wondering why you would come @me when I didn't even bother to play.
  14. I honestly have a hard time with the idea that folks buy this "it takes 3-4 years to build a rapport up with these kids" line. My guess as to what is happening: MLB teams lock in on which 13-14 year olds they want and basically call dibs. All the other teams respect this call of dibs since it cuts down on competition and keeps prices down. I will never believe that, for the vast number of these kids, giving them 300K instead of 250K won't buy out any "rapport". For most of these kids they get one payday and this is it. Now if you think the other teams are going to make the O's sit out the next couple of years I can get behind that way of thinking. As for spending all the money. All the money was spent last year. That means that teams more into the international market than the O's figured value was to be hard. My guess is unless the O's let some money go to pot all the money will be spent this year. If the other teams can find guys after July 2 worth spending money on then the O's should be able to.
  15. Great job defeating me in a contest I didn't take part in.
  16. They have changed the rules. They can't do things like that anymore.
  17. I don't know why, I'm just looking at what they are doing. Is the law firm doing well? How many charitable acts are they committing? Candidates they are supporting?
  18. He signed for 5M and their allotted pool was $5,398,300.
  19. I think anyone who will still be an asset in 2022 is cheap enough that they can hold onto them for now. I'll disagree with you on your Yankee point. I wouldn't trade AR for Jasson Dominguez. Huge ceiling of course but the bust potential of any 16 year old is too great.
  20. I'm in the flip everyone of value that won't be a positive contributor in 2022 camp.
  21. To some degree knowingly overpaying for a player can still be a viable strategy. The Yankees for instance had to pay a premium to get CC Sabathia to pitch for them instead of a National league team. Worked out pretty well for them.
