  1. A big part of what caused Means to take the step forward he did was an increase in velocity. 2018 Means went 3.1 innings and gave up five earned runs.
  2. Does that mean Holliday can hit a slider?
  3. Tell your boss you're going to be late.
  4. Folks say that college bats are more of a sure thing but look at Spencer Torkelson. I'm not calling the guy a bust, he's in the majors, but he's not a generational hitter by any stretch of the imagination.
  5. To expand, it's to combat intentionally fielding a non-competitive team (tanking).
  6. Let me know when you get that playoff share for last season.
  7. Nats didn't get Harper and Strasburg by accident.
  8. First off you and I are not part of the "we" that is the Orioles. Secondly it wasn't just the Orioles, the Astros did it, the Cubs did it, we were just the latest and most blatant. Thirdly, it wasn't about the hitting on draft picks, when the rule was changed the O's prospect landscape didn't look this rosy, it was about slashing payroll to nothing and intentionally fielding non-competitive teams for years on end a practice which managed to piss off both the players union and the other owners.
  9. He's had an at bat batting fourth this season. He started 25 games batting fourth last season.
  10. Oh not any time, EVERY time. You just can't help yourself.
  11. I did think you'd have enough wit to change the link I'd inserted but I was wrong. Hey you love me admitting I'm wrong, so there you go! I overestimated you.
  12. He also played an average (imo) first base and a below average outfield. For this team. Or is that another nitpick? Also, thanks for chiming in again when I was responding to someone else.
  13. Do you think O'Hearn is an above average defender?
  14. I'm keeping up just fine. Me and the person I was actually responding to finished the discussion amiably. It's just you and your fixation that's still going on. It's funny, they understood what I meant and yet you felt a need to get involved.
  15. Markakis pushed a ball over the fence for a homerun since that happened.
  16. Right. I'll try and use smaller words. I was asking him if he would take a player like Jeter. Jeter was a guy that played baseball for the Yankees who was not good at defense but was good at hitting the ball. He played Shortstop which is one of the positions he was talking about. Most folks think Jeter was really good overall even with being bad at defense.
  17. Sure, just saying Stewart isn't that fair an example since you aren't getting the good with the bad.
  18. He was a -10 defensive player at a premium position. Would he not be happy with a Jeter? It wasn't that hard to figure out what I was talking about if you had stopped and thought for a second.
  19. And the poor glove would have, to an extent, been laughed off if he was a big time bat.
  20. If Stewart had been that guy with a bat we wouldn't have cared that much. He was a 0 bat -10 glove guy. A better example would be Nelson Cruz maybe.
