  1. Or both are lying. Both could be lying. That's my guess.
  2. The Giants finally got someone to take their money! The Giants!
  3. That's a rough approximation but you don't want to build a roster around the concept. I don't feel confident he'd turn it down and I don't think it would be a smart use of limited money.
  4. Crazy that the Mariners aren't eager to trade away young, controllable, pitching.
  5. Obviously I misjudged the cultural impact of that moment for O's fans.
  6. The Instagram numbers are laughably low. They have around 3M, Billie Eilish has 110M.
  7. Why would you not, it was basically a gimmie.
  8. Yea but came in at .7% for one of the blocks.
  9. Ohtani isn't other players. While the valuation on the field will be bad if he can't pitch he brings in enough revenue that the deal is pretty bulletproof. Also 46M/year isn't even that much of a bump.
  10. I have no clue what you think you are responding to here. Not sure why you even quoted me.
  11. The folks that were explaining away why guys weren't getting signed despite the O's having available pool funds. I heard a lot of "You have to build a relationship with these kids starting when they are 12 years old." (obviously that isn't a literal quote I'm not digging up threads from 2018). BTW I've never stated that a relationship wasn't useful.
  12. As I've been saying all along this angle of "You have to build a rapport with these kids to get them to sign" is overblown.
  13. Oh, so we don't know, you are speculating. Which is fine and all that you are speculating and you might even be correct in your assumptions. But we don't know. For the record I'm fine with a five and dive guy at the end of the rotation, if the five are good. It's the nature of the game at this point.
  14. Oh so we know he's going to replicate his AAA performance in the majors but it's actually going to be worse. Got it. So glad I now know what I'm supposed to know.
  15. So he had an ERA between five and six at Norfolk?
  16. We know he's going to end up with a 5-6 run ERA?
  17. I wouldn't call it a disaster for JA. He's still pretty much a lock to get a 600M payout.
  18. Because last year we ended up with Gibson and Irvin during the offseason and Flaherty and Fujinami at the deadline. Edit- I also question if patience is always a virtue when it comes to trades. I think sometimes you have to be aggressive and set the market or you risk losing out.
  19. Of course. But that's part of his job. No one is suggesting it's easy.
  20. If the plan is to trade for or sign pitching you need to be willing to accept the cost of implementing that plan. Or maybe things will keep going right anyway? That'd be sweet.
  21. I've seen guys refine command at the ML to an extent I have not seen with velocity or movement. I'd hate to close the door on Hall as a starter.
  22. Are you suggesting that Elias hasn't managed to get a grip on the cost of pitching?
  23. From what I have read both the Blue Jays and the Giants were on board with signing a very similar deal to the one he signed with the Dodgers. I think the math checks out even if he doesn't reach on the field expectations.
