I heard a lot of "You have to build a relationship with these kids starting when they are 12 years old." (obviously that isn't a literal quote I'm not digging up threads from 2018). BTW I've never stated that a relationship wasn't useful.

As I've been saying all along this angle of "You have to build a rapport with these kids to get them to sign" is overblown.

I've seen guys refine command at the ML to an extent I have not seen with velocity or movement. I'd hate to close the door on Hall as a starter.

From what I have read both the Blue Jays and the Giants were on board with signing a very similar deal to the one he signed with the Dodgers. I think the math checks out even if he doesn't reach on the field expectations.
