  1. Matchup of 2 of the best pitching teams in the majors. Looks like it's going to be a slugfest. I'm ok if it's 11-10, as long as the O's are the 11.
  2. Yeah, less time until bullpen implodes. Can't wait.
  3. Downvoted for adding conversation to the board. I wonder what clown did that.
  4. I'm praying that Stowers comes thru at least on defense. As kids today would say, our OF defense looks sus.
  5. Things that should never happen for $500, Alex.
  6. Hays still hindering us even w/o playing. Should put him right back on the IL.
  7. I would like to see that tried. He played a very few games in the outfield and didn't seem to embarass himself. Does not seem to be considered by Elias and company.
  8. Harrison Bader of the Mets is another option. He's an above average center fielder,so would help on defense. He doesn't bring much offensively, with a .659 OPS and only 1 HR this year. His OPS against LHP this year is barely above .600, but for his career, he hits LHP better w/ a .807 OPS.
  9. Of course the O's have to pieces to trade for what they need. I don't think we're still the #1 farm system with all the graduations, but we're not far from it. Is the goal to have the #1 farm system or to win the World Series?
  10. Ran/fell into the other team's dugout. Doesn't seem to be seriously hurt. I assume just taken out as a precaution. Check previous page of this thread.
  11. I'm loving the Billy Boxscore name. Can we have a vote about a name change for SG to Billy Boxscore?
  12. I think the O's should really be looking to upgrade the McKenna position, by which I mean the 5th OF. Or should Hays be in that position?
  13. The outfield is looking a little thin with Mullins inability to hit, Cowser's severe slump, and Hays difficulty staying healthy. I think an upgrade is needed, preferably someone who can play center and can mash lefties (to spell Mullins). It's early, so I doubt much is on the market, but I thought it would be fun to identify what could be out there. 1. Robert, White Sox CF. Currently on IL. Can play at All Star level when healthy. 3.5 years of control left. White Sox's expected ask will be huge. Not an option until close to deadline. 2. Pham, White Sox Utility OF. Listed as CF. I assume he has been taking Robert's place in CF. I don't know much about his defense. A quick survey of stats it appears slightly below average. Hits lefties well. 946 OPS against LHP this year, 835 OPS for career. 3. Adell, Angels, RF. I assume he could handle LF too. .809 OPS this year but negative career WAR. He's never really established himself as an average major leaguer but maybe will this year. If the O's trade for him, does he block Kjerstad? Feel free to add anyone you think might be available.
  14. He makes Hays seems like the model of health. I can't see the White Sox parting with him except for a huge price. For Beavers, McDermott and Willems that seems like a more than fair trade but they would laugh at it.
  15. The O's had more optionable relievers last year. I believe Tate, Perez, Akin and Baumann had options. If you check box scores, O's are frequently using 4 or 5 relievers and opponents are using 2 or 3. I don't know if there is a stress factor for the bullpen but the O's bullpen would have to be at the top if there was. Multiple relievers, 5, among relievers with most appearances is concerning.
  16. No way the O's stick with a 6 man rotation for any length of time. Hyde struggles to manage the bullpen with 8 relievers. 7 relievers will be a disaster. One option would be to DFA/trade Baumann or option Akin. I feel like Akin has been a valuable member of the bullpen and even Baumann has been pitching well lately. I'm not sure a shuttle of relievers would be any better. 8 relievers is plenty to get thru a stretch of consecutive games, you just can't throw 5 relievers every game. Guys like Suarez, Baumann, and Akin should be throwing 2+ innings frequently. Guys like Cano, Coulombe and Webb should be your 1 inning high leverage Guys. You don't want to use them over 1 inning because you want to use them multiple times a week. Kimbrel's work load has to be managed carefully. No more back to backs or at least w/o plenty of rest before hand. Perez you have to choose spots for him carefully. Really need one more dominant back end arm probably replacing Perez.

  18. Are there comparable players with a little less upside and control and a better health who are reasonable OF targets for the O's?
  19. Robert has a .741 OPS and a -0.1 WAR and is on the IL again, surprise, surprise. White Sox will be lucky to get 2 top 100 prospects that are near bottom of that 100. No chance a smart GM would part with one of the top prospects for this guy, but it only takes 1 dummy.
  20. Post is one page 115 if you are like me not the best at searching threads.
  21. Some of the other undeniably true gossip was that Holliday and Mayo would both definitely make the OD team, and the O's would definitely trade for Cease. So take that gossip with a grain of salt. I have no problems with Hyde being a players' manager. The days of a Pinella type manager going thru a clubhouse and cursing out players and publicly embarassing players is long gone. The O's clubhouse seems to be a positive place and the O's players play for each other if not Hyde. I'm definitely not a fan of Hyde's game management skills, but I believe he is doing well with player management.
  22. You think that Robert's value is higher than Holliday's?
  23. Nice! I'm worried way more about Kjerstad's defensive limitations that I am about his ability to his MLB pitching. I expect him to continue to hit like a MOO bat, but would be nice to hear about his defense improving in the outfield.
