  1. And the guy who had enough strikes thrown to him to K twice, but then walked, scores. Fun. ?
  2. "Full count!" That's a funny way of saying Strike Five.
  3. Were they looking at that to tell where it hit the pole? The pole has a fence-level line painted on it... wonder if that would have been a double instead if it hit under the line? I don't keep up with field rules, especially at stadiums we usually only play at twice a decade.
  4. Well clearly, Davis caused LeBlanc to not cover first somehow. Maybe some sort of mind control, because he wanted the hot-dogging glory of making that play unassisted. Totally a textbook E3!
  5. Man, if only there were something out there that was already installed in every major league stadium that could judge the ending location of every pitch with accuracy better than half the diameter of a baseball. Then we could employ it to judge the result of pitches at an accuracy percentage that far exceeds a human. Alas. Oh well, maybe they'll invent it someday, we can always dream.
  6. Luck is not better than skill outside of the most ridiculously small sample sizes and rarest of occurrences. I might hit a flop every blue moon with a terrible hand against overwhelmingly bad odds if the stars align, but if I keep playing aggressively with horrible hands, I'm going to lose my way out of the poker game faster than you can blink. Be the best, not the luckiest.
  7. IMO, I don't even think you need an appeal system. An electronic pitch result system should be set up to relay each pitch to the ump in real time (earpiece) within a second or two of hitting the catcher's glove. The only time the ump would have to overrule is if something happened that obviously impacted the result (like if a misthrown pitch bounced before coming across the plate).
  8. That was the first game of the final series of the 2011 season, where the Orioles won that final series to help knock Boston out of the playoffs on the last day, and at the last moment. You can pair this play up with Andino's famous game winning RBI single in the season finale two games later. I wonder how many Boston fans still carry around an Andino voodoo doll that they jab from time to time when the mood strikes? ?
  9. I think what makes them creepy to me is that they are inconsistent in size. If they were all life-sized it would be fine, but with them as they are I feel like I'm living in Uncanny Valley.
  10. Not currently. This is a resurrected old thread without a title change. Last time Valaika was DFA'd was February to my knowledge.
  11. Can we PLEASE pull Castro now?
  12. Ball one nearly hit Harper in the ankle. Might have been a k if that ump from a couple of games ago was back there.
  13. I can only follow on mlb gameday at the moment... they are showing it as an error.
  14. Oh believe me, I'm with you 100% on that, this is BS. The rule book should be changed to always rule in the visiting team's favor in matters like this. One team has control of the grounds equipment and could manipulate it to their team's favor... the other team does not.
  15. There won't be any extra travel... they are going make it up next weekend at OPACY when we play the Nats again.
  16. How long do they wait? I mean, are we going to restart this after three or four hours? I know the Nats don't want to throw away a comeback attempt just because of the incompetence of their grounds crew, but come on... enough is enough.
  17. It's in the game recap video here. https://www.mlb.com/orioles/video/orioles-vs-nationals-recap-8-8?t=t110-default-vtp
  18. Okay, Iglesias is on second again' all is as it should be.
  19. Inglesias stopped at first base. I thought he wasn't allowed to hit singles?
  20. Man, the fake crowd noise is atrocious tonight.
  21. It's not 0.7 grams. It's 7 trillionths of a gram.
  22. 7 picograms of Oral T? How long ago did he take it? That's such a stupidly small amount that I'm going to guess that he ingested it in a past life.
  23. A lot the issue is unrealistic fan expectations regarding draft picks. Many seem to think that the hit percentage is many times larger than what it actually is. Or that we are terrible at drafting players, when statistically, we haven't really varied much from league average.
  24. The team is still doing surprisingly well in pitching recently. Of course, it doesn't help to average 2 runs allowed per game for a stretch if you'e not scoring at all.
