  1. Charge that run to Mullins.
  2. GBDP here Sneezy. You can do it. I believe in you.
  3. Thank you Tony. You are a lifesaver, friend.
  4. Which is why I tune out any announcer who starts talking about So-and-So's career stats against such and such a team. Outside of the slight influence of half of said stats being generated at the same stadium, it's a bunch of nothing that means nothing... one the most worthless stats discussed in baseball.
  5. Can't really post the link, language. Just google Jeff Passan Reds announcer may be fired (or go to his Twitter), there's multiple links with his tweet that has the offending video/audio clip from the broadcast. Someone put his mic on before he realized it, but it doesn't excuse him having the conversation he was having, especially anywhere within 100 feet of a broadcast mic.
  6. Did he get officially fired yet? I can't find anything actually saying so, but it seems inevitable now.
  7. There's a lot to this theory, simply because this seems to be his approach when the scenario in the game dictates the need to gain base runners over all else. To me, these feel like the times he's most comfortable.
  8. Probably that this season is more about additional tweaking and experimentation regarding the rebuild, rather than the "we're contending this year" thoughts that many of us had when we got off to a nice start. This pie isn't done yet and needs more the in the oven. Elias knows this.
  9. Reminds me of a few seasons ago when Mookie Betts was absolutely on the hottest streak of his career when Boston rolled into town, but we just kept pitching to him over and over. He hit seven or eight homers off us in one three game series. When guys are this atomically hot and it's obvious to everyone... stop pitching to them. Seriously, just stop. Just point to first.
  10. So just getting back from work, and see this summary blurb on the Orioles MLB site: Starter Tommy Milone struck out seven Blue Jays, but a pair of homers by Randal Grichuk proved costly. I know you all were probably talking about it in the game thread, but WHY WERE WE PITCHING TO HIM AGAIN?
  11. You're missing the main part of my point. If he decided to hang up the cleats tomorrow and opened up the process by telling the Orioles he was open to negotiating a buyout, in the end, he could probably get 75% or more of the money he's owed and give up that small (in comparison to the rest of the contract) portion in exchange for being able to leave his job at that very moment. Again, the money is a non-issue. Also, he's not going to care what the player's association or his agent thinks because, let's be honest, he's probably never playing pro ball again once he ends this current deal.
  12. I still have no idea what his personal motivations are. At this point, he has to know rationally that a return to his previous form is not in the cards. Is he worried about his legacy? I don't see how. He's been below replacement value on this contract so far, and his glory days seem like decades ago now. If this is it, I don't see how playing two more seasons of negative-WAR baseball is going to help his legacy any. Is it the money? Again, surely not. He already has multi-generational wealth for his family... with sound investing, the Davis line will be set for centuries just from what he's already made. In addition, as others have mentioned, if he decided to call it quits, the Orioles would be very agreeable with a buyout at this point... if the team could save some percentage of the guaranteed money AND free up a roster spot from a negative production player, that would be a victory. So he wouldn't even be out all of the remaining money. I just don't get what's driving him.
  13. I swear Cobb threw the same two seam fastball four times to pretty much the same location in that last at bat and the ump called it something different every time.
  14. Knuckleball pitchers may throw slowly enough... not that the info would help.
  15. With those terrible alt jerseys from the Phillies as well... we need a whole series with no ridiculous uniforms for our eyes to recover.
  16. Print the... wait, we couldn't physically attend the playoffs even if we wanted to this year, could we? I just made myself sad.
  17. There's an argument you could make that the eighth guy should actually be your worst hitter if you have another leadoff type hitter for the number nine spot.
  18. My soul dies a little every time Ben says a 0.00 ERA pitcher doesn't have an ERA. They do have an ERA, Ben. It's zero. That's a number. The only pitchers that don't have an ERA are the ones who haven't recorded an out yet, because you can't calculate ERA without innings pitched. Can someone please make sure he gets the memo?
  19. Wojo is starting to leave everything up.
  20. He did Bleeding Gums Murphy it up a little, though.
  21. Probably a day off. Pretty sure he'd been in the lineup every game for two weeks straight.
