This felt like the Bungee Boss from Dilbert, except replace "Boss" with "Relief Pitcher."

So what is required for us to be done at this point? 2 hours at 425? Seriously, they'd have to go on an 8 - 10 game tear to even have a chance for this season. Not super likely.

Where's Pedro Severino fit in the future?

? You said he has only played at A ball. That isn't correct. But the context reads that you probably meant the highest level he's played at is A ball. A simple slip, semantics really. We knew what you meant. -

There's value in keeping all three. I know that we wanted to refrain from dumping a full time catching workload on Rutch to keep him from wearing out. Having two other catchers lets us DH him far more often if needed, we could even go as far as a 100/30ish/30ish game split between the three if we wanted. Sisco also brings a left-handed DH bat for days when Rutch is catching and you need that, and could work himself into some first base back up duties with some practice. And if circumstances change and it becomes obvious that we should no longer be carrying three catchers, you can trade the extra guy. These are the kinds of problems you want to have, and I'm thrilled that we are approaching that "dealing with roster issues and it's awesome" point. -
I think you guys are on to something here. Think about it. Historic results will tell you that in most situations, bunting is an even or negative proposition. In situations where it is actually positive (say, it makes you more likely to score at least one run in the inning), it still almost always reduces the probability of a big inning, due to the expected out you will be giving up. However: Keep in mind that the majority of historic stats and results that tell you this were contributed prior to the Age of Analytical Shifting that started in the early to mid 2010s. As far as I know, no one has put up a dedicated experiment of a bunch of speedy control guys bunting all the time. What does that do to the defense, when they can't play their normal stupid shifting on your guys due to having to not give up guaranteed singles to them every time they come up? If the defense alters their normal shifts, can your speedy guys (and other guys in the lineup who benefit from reduced shifting because you have base runners on more often during their at bats) take advantage of this exploited defense? There may very well be more here than meets the eye.

OMG! Didn't anyone cover Ubaldo's Pothole ™ back up after Davis stepped in it? We don't need to lose any players we aren't intending to lose!

I was going to say... the respective returns feel more like the Jays getting fleeced rather than us. We may have gotten less than Villar's actual value, but by the same token the Jays paid WAY too much.

For giving up a good prospect for approximately 20 games worth of Villar. He better have a big impact for them to be worth it.

Why did we just pitch to Grichuk again? Walk him and Guerrero... there are two empty bases and no one except the dude standing on third matters.

C'mon now, I don't want them to fleece us.

I know many have weighed in, but the draft should just be as simple as last year plus this year. It's pretty reflective of where teams still are overall while accounting a bit for teams looking a little better or worse in the short season.
-
Can't they both be in the rotation? I thought we'd been pitching a guy short there.

I'm sorry, I still would have rather implemented tie games after the 11th to achieve the same effect. Something still feels wrong about this. Probably the fact that historically, in extra inning games where the visiting team failed the score in their half of tenth, and the home team ended up with a guy on second with no one out, the home team has won a hair over 80% of the time. This rule feels very skewed toward one team over the other.

He has an Inspector Gadget extendo-arm? Man, we should have called him up weeks ago. -

Sorry Red Sox, we've decided you don't get to hit tonight. -
With Cobb pitching well, we should get an okay return. He's signed through next year.

Update: Davis Activated! Davis to IL with knee injury

I don't know. Ubaldo's Pothole™ is a harsh mistress. People have lost entire hamstrings in there. -
