  1. It would be unexpected.. yes. But funny how sometimes a pitching lab tweak here, a new pitch there .. and voila…
  2. Or maybe McDermott and Povich and Seth Johnson take an unexpected (to us anyway) major step forward .. or maybe a trade of middle infielder glut lands some pitching
  3. Bradish last night reminded me a bit of Scott Erickson.. outstanding and lots of grounders
  4. They have made a special season all the more special!! An outstanding team!!!
  5. At the height of Covid .. I got my brother Scott a Christmas present through Cameo from Brooks lol https://www.cameo.com/recipient/5fc9a743070e38001d0f8861?from_share_sheet=1&utm_campaign=video_share_to_copy
  6. Cano looked like the early season Cano tonight..impossible to hit.
  7. I am so sad about the passing of Brooks Robinson. My Dad’s favorite player, particularly after his 1964 AL MVP season. He was my hero growing up with the greatest of Oriole teams 1965-1971. As all who have met or known him, as great a player, he was a greater human being!! He and Frank came to my school in 1966 and Brooks introduced themselves as “brothers”. A remarkable lesson for us kids at a time of racial tensions. When my brother had CoVID, Brooks called and wished him well!! (As did Jim Palmer and John Means too) I too have many Brooks items but I will always remember how kind and warm and generous a man he was. Rest in peace, number 5!! God bless your family!!
  8. Yes .. if I am Mayo, I hope my career is better than the trio of previous Baysox winners, Pickering had 95 big league game appearances with .223 lifetime, Lou Montanez was in 129 games over 4 years also with a .223 lifetime BA, and Garabez never made the bigs. If I was Mayo, I might refuse the award lol
  9. This is not just “oh go out and throw some and see how it feels” He is being carefully monitored evaluated by the Oriole orthopedic and rehab medicine staff and specialists , likely including repeat MRIs, and clinical reexamination after every session. They will decide what is possible/best for Felix health
  10. Or we could sign ex Oriole Josh Hader .. it’s only money lol
  11. Brooks Robinson if health allows. Jim Palmer McGregor to Dempsey - last WS winner and MVP Boog Powell Cal
  12. Most nerve wracking games in the nearly 60 years I have been watching the Os was 1969. 109 game winning superstar dynasty team! First year divisions were instituted and so they first had to play the Twins (who else?)in a best 3/5.. not 4/7. First two games were insanely close, 11th and 12th inning wins but we closed it out in 3rd game. Off to World Series against Mets.. yuck. Still the idea we had to play the Twins who finished 12 games behind our record was galling!!
  13. Which means they are a lock to win the World Series!!
  14. I agree… my number one target is Hader. Particularly with Bautista out. And with the LF wall , Camden would be an appealing park for him
  15. Not that I am comparing them at all… but the one thing great pitchers have is their tempo.. they push the hitter usually faster than they are comfortable and they stay ahead in counts. Means at his best has wonderful tempo and Maddux was the best ever at that. Mike Cuellar was a master tempo artist as well.
  16. Yeah, he might pitch 2 no hitters in the big leagues lol
  17. The thread is “John Means, Playoff Starter” . John is not Greg Maddux or Grayson Rodriguez . He has his own means of being successful. (See how I did that?) The answer to the OP is yes, definitely and thankfully.
  18. Exactly … there were the 1966 Orioles, then Frank’s head met Al Weis’s knee in 1967 and then there was Denny McClain and Mickey Lolich and the Tigers in 1968.
  19. Hmmm memory is a funny thing. When Jim Johnson blew 13 saves out of 63 in 2013 , he was crucified on this board lol
