Early prediction, Nevin wins MVO
-
I’m worried about 1B, rotation depth, and high leverage bullpen innings. This team looks good overall but if you start to pick it apart, I could see them being pretty shaky at times.
-
Doubtful he gets a QO, probably just walks after this year. Maybe traded at the deadline if the prospects behind him are outperforming him but even then that is a hard decision to make assuming that the team is playing well overall.

If you can reasonably believe that Urias and Holliday would give you the same amount of production, then I don’t see the harm in giving Holliday more AAA time and gaining the extra year.

First 30 game win/lose prediction after todays moves and moves after?
oriole replied to OnlyOneOriole's topic in Orioles Talk
I mean, yea. I want to see the young talent. If I told you what I’d have liked done then it’d probably come across as extreme. But I also don’t think that the reality is as bad as everyone has been making it seem. I think they’ll win roughly the same amount of games through April as they would have with Holliday and Stowers on the team. Every time someone has a great spring I think back to our old friend Jake Fox. I’ll leave it to the professional talent evaluators to decide whether or not they think a player is ready. And sometimes it just comes down to hard decisions. -

I don’t really feel excited about the roster management but it’s also not all that surprising. Urias would probably be traded if anyone was willing to give anything for him. Stowers never stood a chance. Overall, I think that this team won a lot of games last year with pretty much the same lineup. No reason to think they couldn’t do it again. -
I legitimately didn’t know, thanks. I’ve never had any interest in the subject. Seems odd from the perspective of an outsider. But I guess there must be a reason. I don’t even buy scratch offs, gambling’s not my thing.

If Ohtani paid off his interpreters debts, then why should anyone care? A cover up looks worse than the act of helping out someone who seems to be a friend of his. Who knows what the actual story is, but this is gonna be a super distracting story for Ohtani in his first year in his mega contract.

This is where I’m at too. I love John Means for being a bright spot on some bad teams, but unfortunately I don’t think he is going to a big part of any winning season. Unless I’m wrong and he wins come back player of the year, I don’t know. I don’t have a crystal ball. Just a hunch.

Mountcastle needs to be platooned until he shows he doesn’t. In a perfect world, both Mountcastle and O’Hearn are off the team next year and they find a different direction for 1B. Too late to hope for that this year though

Who is this year's O'Hearn-like Spring discovery?
oriole replied to Billy F-Face3's topic in Orioles Talk
Hard to guess Johnson just because of the reason you mentioned, no path to at bats. If I had to guess it’d be a bullpen piece. Krook or Heasley? Someone needs to step up if the bullpens gonna be effective all year. You can’t really depend on Cano and Kimbrel to hold it down for an entire season. -
Could Mike Baumann be pitching his way into high leverage situations?
oriole replied to Tony-OH's topic in Orioles Talk
I’ve leaned more towards Tate taking that role and I’d love it if Wells were the guy instead of filling in for injuries in the rotation. Not to be that guy, but they’ve got more major league ready prospects than they know what the do with. Norby and Stowers specifically could net a very helpful bullpen piece. Otherwise they’re going to be chilling in AAA all season whether they’re ready or not. -
Would you pitch Corbin Burnes 3/28, 4/2 and 4/7
oriole replied to Just Regular's topic in Orioles Talk
I feel like I’m getting nitpicked here. My point is that Burnes is by far our best starter and his workload should be spread out because there’s a big drop off after him in the rotation. Sure, Rodriguez has the potential to be just as good or better…but until I see it over an extended period (not just half a season), I’m going to have to settle on Burnes being the top guy. Sorry if my language isn’t up to everyone’s standards -

Yep, my terminology is certainly subjective. My intent was something along the lines of top of the rotation or close to it with a track record. Kremer could have a 3.50 or 5.00 ERA, neither will surprise me. Same goes for any one else currently in the rotation. My point remains the same though, Burnes is the only one with a track record of success (should’ve just said that I guess). -

He’s arguably the only bonafide major league starter in the rotation. No sense in wearing him out early. -
Will the O’s trade away a position player before Opening Day?
oriole replied to Frobby's topic in Orioles Talk
Urias has absolutely no role on this team but he’s a good enough player that he shouldn’t be released. I think he is traded, but that’s more hopeful than anything I suppose. -
ExpressVPN is good. But access to games is inconsistent day-to-day and some devices just straight up don’t work ever.

Bowden @The Athletic: 1 player from each team making an impact in ST
oriole replied to Moose Milligan's topic in Orioles Talk
Don’t have to be sorry, I think you’re probably right. I just wonder if it’s worth having Stowers + a good high leverage RP (just an example) or Kjerstad and a lottery ticket prospect. Maybe if Kjerstad is packaged with Norby then we’re talking about a mid-rotation starter? Stowers won’t get you anything close. Yes, it’s because he’s not as good of a player but it’s also worth noting that it Stowers doesn’t work out then Beavers and Bradfield are right behind him. -

oriole replied to Moose Milligan's topic in Orioles Talk
So many left handed outfielders. Eventually one of them will be traded. Stowers has the least trade value, but it makes me wonder if that means someone else should be moved and the difference between Stowers and Kjerstad or Cowser wouldn’t be that much and easily makes up for whatever we bring in for one of the the latter two. -
Omg, did I ruffle feathers? Let’s start naming all the non-white players. Im literally saying that the diversity angle is dumb while also acknowledging that the O’s have a ton of guys of European descent.
-
To be fair, they do lack diversity. But it’s not like it’s an all white team either. I’d rather he put the best team together than worry about the optics of that approach.
